It is that time of the week again- tag time! II have been seeing this tag going around lately, so of course I had to join in! The questions are really original. If you haven’t done this yet than I officially tag you, and if you have done this than please leave a link in the comments! Also, I post a tag every Thursday so I am always looking for more to do. If you have any that you would be interesting in seeing my answer to please let me know!
THREE READ ONCE AND LOVED AUTHORS:
Fredrik Backman- A Man Called Ove is one of my favourite books and I can not believe that it is the only book by him that I have read. I keep meaning to read Bear Town, which I know I am going to love, but I just haven’t been in the mood for it! Backman is an amazing writer and I connected to his characters in such an intense way!
Heather O’Neill– The Lonely Hearts Hotel was the best book that I read last year, and I fell in love with Heather O’Neill’s writing and story telling. The Lonely Hearts Hotel was extremely atmospheric and impactful. It is a book that I continue to think about. I have heard amazing things about her other novel, Lullabies for Little Criminals, and I am hoping to read it soon.
Neal Shusterman– I recently read Scythe (FINALLY!) and absolutely loved it! I know need to read everything that Shusterman has written, starting of course with Thunderhead. I have also heard amazing things about his Unwind series.
THREE TITLES I’VE WATCHED BUT HAVEN’T READ:
The Princess Bride by William Goldman– I hate to admit this but I am one of those rare people who didn’t absolutely love The Princess Bride. I did not watch it when I was younger so I am wondering if I am missing some of the nostalgia! I have heard amazing things about the book though so I do want to read it. Maybe it will even make me appreciate the movie more.
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton– I also didn’t watch Jurassic Park until I was an adult, but I did really enjoy it. I have also been loving the Jurassic World movies. I have heard the book is really great and I have been wanting to read Michael Crichton.
Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman– I have read many books by Alice Hoffman and I have absolutely loved them all! The Rules of Magic, which is a sequel to Practical Magic, is my favourite book about witches! I have always assumed that I have read the book, but I realized recently that I definitely haven’t read it but have only watched the movie. This is criminal and is going to chance this fall! I watch Practical Magic every October so it will be fun to also read the book this year!
THREE CHARACTERS YOU LOVE:
Ove from A Man Called Ove– Ove is probably my favourite character ever. There is something about him that I connect to and he feels like a real person in my mind. I loved him and all his grumpiness. He was oddly charming!
Evelyn Hugo from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo– Evelyn Hugo is such an dynamic character and I adore her. I love that she knows that she is flawed and that she owns it. She is another character who feels real to me. It is hard to believe she is not an actual celebrity!
Jude from I’ll Give You the Sun– I also love her twin, Noah, but there was something about Jude and her story that spoke to me. I was so invested in her and I started to feel her emotions. I was cheering her on throughout the entire novel. I want to reread I’ll Give You the Sun because I kind of miss her!
THREE SERIES BINGED:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins– I am not a big series reader so it is very rare for me to reread series, but The Hunger Games was the exception! I did not read The Hunger Games until the movie came out, and I believe the other books were released at that time. I feel in love with these books and I could not put them down. I had never read anything quite like them before!
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han– I binge read this series last summer and it was so fun! This series is so sweet and charming. I had a smile on my face throughout most of the books! It also has a lot of depth. This series reminded me how fantastic YA contemporaries novels can be.
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling– Do I even have to explain this one?
THREE UNPOPULAR BOOKISH OPINIONS:
- I have read three books by Maggie Stiefvater and I have not enjoyed any of them! There is something about her writing that I can not connect with. I really want to love The Raven Boys but I just don’t…
- I HATE Harry and Ginny together! I think one of the reasons why is because I do not understand why everyone has to end up in a relationship by the end of a book/series.
- My bookshelves have no organization and I am okay with that. I have shelves all over the place and I just shove books wherever I can!
THREE CURRENT FAVOURITE BOOK COVERS:
THREE BOOKISH GOALS FOR THE YEAR:
These were three of my favourite goals at the start of the year and I figured I would update you on how I am doing so far!
Read More Non-Fiction– I have read 18 non-fiction novels so far in 2018. I am pretty happy with how many non-fiction books I have read so far this year, and I have been reminded how much I enjoy them. I am hoping to read at least 25 by the end of the year.
Review Every Book Read– I only post reviews on Sundays, so this has been difficult, but I have managed to keep up with it! When I find that I am behind I will just post mash-up/mini reviews and those have been going over pretty well!
Try Audiobooks– I am so happy to report that I have fallen in love with audiobooks this year and I am not exaggerating when I say that it has changed my life! I have read more this year than every before and a large part of that is because of audiobooks. They have also made cleaning the house and cooking much more enjoyable!
I love the Princess bride! But like you I have only seen the movie! I was so close to having a friend lend the book to me, but it never happened.
I hope we both get to it soon!!
I really like this book tag, might have to give it a go myself. It gives you just another glimpse into a fellow reader. Love the blog!
Yay! Can’t wait to read your answers. I also love tags that help you get to know the person behind the blog better. Thank you!
Yay I love audiobooks and I’m so pleased that you’ve fallen in love with them too 🙂
Awesome tag! I don’t like Harry and Ginny together either, I feel like Harry and Hermione had MUCH more chemistry and were actually friends?
Thank you! Yes!! Harry and Ginny just came out of nowhere and I was not happy!
Yes! I’m so happy I’m not the only one, everyone seems to ship them and I’m just kinda eh about it all.
Oh I SO relate to your thoughts on Maggie Stiefvater! I wanted to love the Raven Boys but I just couldn’t…her writing style doesn’t sit well with me…I wish it did. I also really dislike Harry and Ginny together. As much as everyone seems to disagree with me, I also don’t like Ron and Hermione together. In the books and films, the chemistry for both couples is off in my mind. I also could care less for the romance shenanigans in those books haha! To this day, I still think Harry and Hermione fit well together. I didnt need them to be a couple at all, but their chemistry is much better in my eyes…#ventover haha!
Haha we are so similar!! I like Hermione and Ron but I couldn’t totally see her with Harry! I just did think every character needs to be coupled up at the end of a series. It annoys me!
I know eh?? My ideal ending would’ve been they couldve been married and what not but we didn’t have to know who, just that they had kids who are going off to school. I just liked the three musketeers as friends…
Yes that would have been great!!
What a fun tag! I might just have to join in the fun, haha!.. Also, I haven’t read any of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before books, but I watched the movie last night and now I really want to pick them up. I’m not usually one for contemporaries but I’m officially hooked on this story, haha!
Yay! Excited to see your answers! You’re going to love the books. I thought the movie was great but there is so much more to the books that I just loved!!
Oh, awesome! That makes me happy to hear!
This is such a fun tag. I want in! Love all your answers. I agree with Harry and Ginny though I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else say it!
Won’t! Excited to see your answers! I am so happy others agree with me about Harry and Ginny!
Lovely goals, hope you get to review all the books you read! I first read THG when Catching Fire wasn’t even published yet so I wasn’t able to binge-read the series, but a few years ago I decided to reread the series and binge-reading a trilogy is just super fun! I miss doing it with YA series, I rarely ever do that anymore :”)
Thank you so much! I have been wanting to reread The Hunger a games! It is nice to binge read a series once in awhile but it’s something I rarely do!
I watched The Princess Bride for the first (and only time) a few years ago and didn’t like it either lol. This is such a fun tag! 🙂
I think we just missed the boat on The Princess Bride! I think a lot of why people love it so much is nostalgia!
Ooh, this tag looks fun! I’m so with you on Heather O’Neill; I loved The Lonely Hearts Hotel and really must try more of her work.
That book was just so good. I think about it often!!
Same here!
Love this tag *puts in on tags-to-do list* Great answers! I have never read Jurassic Park either. And I really must read some Fredrik Backman!
Yay! You really do need to read Fredrik Backman. He’s amazing!
I love Jurassic Park (both the film and the book). If you ever get round to reading it one day I’d love to know what you think.
Also, love this tag and it’s perfect timing as I didn’t have a tag planned for today so I’ll do this one!
That is great to hear. Hopefully I will get to Jurassic Park soon!
Oh good!!
Ooh, this is such a cool tag! I love your answers; Fredrik Backman is an author I’m uber excited to check out, and I haven’t read Princess Bride either! But I did hear that the characters aren’t as lovable as they are in the movies, so we might not be missing out too much? 😉 Oh, and I don’t blame you for not loving Raven Boys; it took me a while to get into the series too, and the first book definitely has a lot of problems lol.
Thank you! I recommend Fredrik Backman to absolutely everyone! I always go back and forth on continue on with The Raven Cycle but there are just so many books out there!
I’m with you on not liking Harry and Ginny together and I wasn’t crazy either about everyone in a relationship by the end. It made the end so sappy to me.
I completely agree! It was not needed!
Awesome post! I binged the Hunger Games series too, and I just finished the second book of the Lara Jean series! I’m so happy you love audiobooks, I think they’re great too 😊 Congrats on reviewing every book you read, that’s no small accomplishment!
Thank you! Ah Lara Jean! So good! Audiobooks have really make doing things like cooking and cleaning much more enjoyable! It has been amazing!
