Happy Valentine’s Day friends! I love that we are spreading the love this Valentine’s Day by shouting out some of our favourite channels!
1. Booktuber(s) with the best filming background?
Mikalareads
Mikala’s bookshelves are my dream shelves! You can tell just by looking at them that she is a lover of witchy books (she is Slewfoot and Cackle front facing!) between the books she has displayed and her knickknacks. I also love the natural look of the shelves themselves and all of the greenery. Just so aesthetically pleasing!
Katrina Brown
I stole this photo of Katrina’s shelves from her Instagram because I think it captures what I love about her filming background! You can just look at her shelves and you know you are about to get some incredible horror recommendations. She has some things in her background that are a little creepy if you look at them for too long but Katrina herself is so sweet and bubbly, so it is fun to see her love for darker things. Also, I am just a sucker for the purple lights!
2. Booktuber(s) with the best editing?
Mama Needs to Read Romance!

I need Bea to make a how-to on her editing process ASAP! She usually does different intros very every video and they are like little skits that are not only hilarious but also well edited. She put together an award show for the best books of 2023 and so many people contributed to that video and the way Bea edited it was so engaging! She also just posted a little free library tour and it was like ASMR between her voiceover and the music in the background.
Sixofpages

A lot of Caitlin’s videos open with some b-roll footage and I find it very calming! I think if you watch one of her vlogs you will understand why I appreciate her editing as much as I do. I struggle with knowing what to b-roll footage to film, so I am inspired by what Caitlin does!
3. Booktuber(s) with the coolest intro?
Kaylani SimplyMe
I love the graphics in Kaylani’s intros, but it is the song that gets me! I now associate that song with Kaylani’s channel and I think that is what you want with an intro!
4. Booktuber(s) with the best recommendations?
Syn’s Book Nook

I think that Syn and I have quite a bit of overlap in our reading taste, especially when it comes to horror. No one can sell me on a horror novel quite like she can! But we initially connected over our share love of Daughter of the Moon Goddess and she is an Emily Wilde lover as well, so I know we have similar taste in fantasy as well. She does a lot of standalone reviews and is always introducing me to new books. My go-to channel when I am not sure what to read next and need inspiration!
BeingDaphne
I think the reason I love Daphne’s recommendations as much as I do is because I just adore her and her channel so much that I think I have an understanding of her reading taste and where we overlap, so it is easy for me to know if I book she recommends (or doesn’t recommend!) will work for me. We don’t always agree on books but I always love hearing her opinion and she is always open to hearing another person’s opinion on why the agree or disagree. I think that is what makes her such a great booktuber to go to for recommendations!
Ry Reads
Zack does this “What the Bleep Did I Just Read” series and it is one of my favourite series on YouTube! I have found a lot of great book recommendations through this series and I have also found some books to avoid! He also reads a wide range of genres and new releases, so I always look forward to his videos and his opinions!
Hannah Blackwell

Hannah is someone I would go to if I wanted a personal book recommendation! I think that she reads widely and she would take my taste into consideration when recommending me something. She also does a ton of recommendation list videos, which are terrible for keeping my TBR under control. She recently posted one for dystopian and post-apocalyptic recommendations and one for alien romances. See- the range!
5. Booktuber currently at the top of your watch feed?
Vampire Keeley
Obviously Keeley is a fan of vampire novels and we definitely have that in common! I love a good unhaul, so I cannot wait to watch her newest video!
Utopia State of Mind
I love that Lili was at the top of my feed because she is someone who I knew first through the blogging world! It is nice to see readers on both platforms!
6. Booktuber(s) that make the best vlogs?
Four Paws and a Book
Bri always posts amazing vlogs, but she recently posted a kind of “Choose Your Own Adventure”- type reading vlog that was incredibly creative and so much fun! The idea was the she would get two recommendations in a specific genre from several booktubers and then would read them in the video and the viewer would guess which of the two books she preferred and would click on a different video based on your guess. It was genius!
Into the Nook
I was actually watching Millie’s newest vlog as I was putting this list together and I enjoyed it so much I had to include her! I think what I like about Millie’s vlogs so much is that it does feel like you are sitting and listening to a friend. It doesn’t hurt that we have similar reading tastes and she just vlogged reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built, which is one of my favourites. She also numbers her vlogs, so she has 67 vlogs up ready and just waiting for you to watch them!
7. Booktuber(s) with the best thumbnails?
Ali Do is Read
I am not joking when I saw that I wish these were my thumbnails! Ali is just so fun and creative and photogenic! I love that she shows so much emotion in her thumbnails (just like she does in her videos!) and that she plays around with her thumbnail style but you can still always tell they are from her. Goals!
8. Booktuber(s) you’ve discovered most recently?
Zoe Cedar

One of my goals for 2024 is to annotate my rereads but I don’t have much of an annotating system, so I have been looking up “How I Annotate” videos and that is how I found Zoe! I instantly liked her personality and I definitely took away some things from her video that I will use when I annotate. I also love that she doesn’t just talk about books but shares about her other passions as well, like fashion and TV shows.
Thor Wants Another Letter

I want to be someone who has a bullet journal, but I can barely keep up with my digital spreadsheet (I am already behind)! That does not stop me from loving bullet journal videos and I almost gave into temptation and bought one this year but I just know myself. I will watch any bullet journal flip through video that comes up in my suggestions and that is how I found Michelle’s channel! Her monthly spreads are just so bright and colourful and show so much of their personality and passions. You can tell a lot about someone from their bullet journal is what I realized and I quickly subscribed!
9. Booktuber(s) who make you laugh?
Heabooktube
Heather’s book cover challenges are hysterical and so underrated! She uses a spinner reel to choose a book which she will then make a makeup look inspired by the cover. It quickly goes off the rails and I am in tears laughing the entire time. If she posted them weekly, I would be happy! She also does these “Not like Other Booktubers” videos which are too real and too funny. She is also so a funny person in general, so I tend to find myself laughing in all of her videos.
Maggie’s Books and Stuff
Maggie is just so effortlessly funny and she will come out with these lines in her videos that will catch me off guard and crack me up! You truly never know what is going to come out of Maggie’s mouth and that is why I love her! Maggie is the reason I read the Mate Games series, which is one of the funniest series I have ever read, so it is not at all surprising she herself is hysterical.
Happily Ever April

April and Maggie have a weird ass romance book club together where they read, you guessed it, weird romances. This month they are reading Pounded by Pluto, so I think you get the idea. I LOVE listening to April’s thoughts on these books and seeing just how much fun she has while reading them. There is something about her laugh that makes me laugh. It is contagious!
Gotathingforthings

Sandra is one of those people who is funny without trying! I think that she truly shines in live shows! We did a liveshow together and I just remember laughing the entire time.
