“Summer Bucket List” Book Tag

I first did this tag back in 2019 and I thought it was about time I did it again! It was fun to look back on my answers- there are some incredible books I shared that I do not talk about enough.

The fact that the cover of Every Summer After is about 90% water made me think it was the perfect answer to this question! Anyone who grew up in Canada and remembers spending summers at the lake will feel so much nostalgia reading this book. The main characters spend a lot of time in the water!

If you like romances that are not only steamy but also have a lot of mutual pining and lusting, The Romance Recipe is for you! The fact that it is also a food romance is a bonus!

I don’t normally enjoy quest stories, but Nettle & Bone is the exception! I adored this band of characters and I thought that the length of this book was perfect. These characters definitely go on a journey, but we don’t follow them walking for 100 pages, which was appreciated!

I thought that Siren Queen was an appropriate answer to this question considering it is set in pre-code Hollywood and focuses on the sacrifices people make in the name of becoming famous. I was also starstruck by Nghi Vo’s beautiful writing!

I think was struck me about Elektra was how fast I read it! I could not put this book down, which is not usually my experience with Greek myth retellings. As much as I love this genre, I normally have to take my time with them and they are slower reads, but that was not the case here. I was deeply invested in these characters in a way I hadn’t anticipated!

I went with Fake It Till You Bake It because I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity for a pun! This romance is sweet in two ways- the chemistry between Jade and Donovan is adorable and their love story takes place inside a bakery that specializes in cupcakes!

This question could be interpreted in many ways, but I went with So Many Beginnings because it was such a fresh take on Little Women. It was so interesting to see these iconic characters in a new way and I appreciated some of the changes that Bethany C. Morrow made to the original story.

In Not Good for Maidens we see all of our characters overcoming one obstacle after another- I guess that is just the nature of being in the Golbin Market.

This question is perfect for me! I almost went with one of the million foodie romances I have loved (see Fake It Till You Bake It and The Romance Recipe, mentioned above), but then I remembered One Italian Summer! The food descriptions were next level and I never felt so hungry while reading a book.

In the Shadow of the Mountain is a memoir following a group of women who have survived sexual assault and are summiting Mount Everest. It is impossible not to be inspired by that!
