I love a good summery cover! They bring me so much joy. What makes a book cover feel like summer to you? For me, it has to be colourful and there has to be a beach or a pool or some reference to the water. I have also noticed that they are usually illustrated because there is something fun and delightful about illustrated covers that just feels summery.

These first five books all have the word “summer” in the title, which makes the covers inherently summery!
Every Summer After seems to be the book of the summer! It is a messy friends-to-lovers romance that I had a great time with. This is the edition that I have, but the other cover is just as summery, but I do think I like this edition more. The tones are just so pretty and there is something about Sam hanging off the dock while Percy is tanning that is sweet to me.
If you want to feel like you are on a trip to Italy this summer One Italian Summer is the perfect book for you! This cover is everything- I love the illustration of Capri. It is so beautiful! Don’t let the vibes of the cover fool you though, this book is emotional and deals a lot with grief.
I have not yet read The Drowning Summer but it has one of my favourite covers ever! The tones in the water are just so beautiful and I love that half of the girls’ faces are underwater. There is something a little bit eerie about that!
Is there anything that screams summer more than a lighthouse!? I adored It Happened One Summer and I think the cover does a good job of preparing you for what you are going to get from the story.
I have heard great things about The Summer of Broken Rules, but it was the cover that made me add it to my TBR. I love the sailboat with the heart on the sail, and the pink and blue tones are just so adorable.

The Beach Trap has been all over bookstagram and the cover always catches my attention! I love both the title and all the little summery details. This looks like a beach house I would love to visit!
I grew up by the lake and attended summer camp every summer, so there is nothing that reminds me more of this time of year than a canoe. I cannot say that I have seen many book covers like the one for Would You Rather. It is so cute!
Don’t Go Baking My Heart is the sequel to Sweethand, a romance I read last summer and really loved. I think of all of the covers on this list, this cover is the most summery. That is a beach I want to be on and I will take the cupcake as well!
Breathe and Count Back From Ten is a mermaid novel and I just love the vibes of the cover.
Look how cute the cover of If You Change Your Mind is!? I am here for the surfboard and all of that sunshine. I have heard that this book reads very much like a summer romance.

I’ve been seeing it everywhere lately. Looks like the perfect beach read!
We have a lot of the same colors on our lists this week! Lots of teals and yellows really scream summer to me!
That’s so true! A bright cover in the summer always catches my eye.
Good picks! And I loved The Beach Trap!
I’ve heard so many great things!
It was fun!
That pink/blue color combination does seem to fit well with summer vibes, doesn’t it? Breathe and Count Back From Ten made my list this week, too.

Summer isn’t even my favourite season but there is just something about about summer books that puts a smile on my face! This is an amazing list, thank you! 🥰
I feel the exact same way!
All these are so summery!
It was fun to look for these covers!
I haven’t heard of any of these! They all look really good though.
I’m also curious about a book with a summery cover!
The UK cover of The Drowning Summer definitely feels like more autumnal colours than the US edition you have here, which hits the summer vibes well.

It seems to be everywhere!
It happened one summer is one I have to read!
You really do. I think you’d love it!
I LOVE the Summer of Broken Rules. I was one of my favorites from last year, so I really hope you enjoy it, if you get to it.
Am I the only one that thought Every Summer After was a Taylor Jenkins Reid book before reading the actual name of the author? This fits the exact aesthetic style that they are releasing all of TJRs books now.
I have heard incredible things about The Summer of Broken Rules!
And you’re so right about Every Summer After. It does fit that vibe!
I love that cover of Every Summer After. It must be the UK edition or even the Canadian edition. I also loved the book. It’s one of my favorite reads so far this year. 😀

I’ve seen both covers! I love the colours in the Canadian edition!
One Italian Summer did make me want to go to Italy. I did have some issues on how same things were handled in the book but the food and scenery were not one of them.
Agreed. I enjoyed the book but it’s not perfect. The good descriptions were though!
