Nonfiction November |  Be The Expert/ Ask the Expert/ Become the Expert

Veronica at The Thousand Book Project is the host for this week and here is the prompt:

Three ways to join in this week! You can either share 3 or more books on a single topic that you have read and can recommend (be the expert), you can put the call out for good nonfiction on a specific topic that you have been dying to read (ask the expert), or you can create your own list of books on a topic that you’d like to read (become the expert).

I love investigative journalism, but I do not read it as often as I would like and I honestly don’t even know what is out there! That is why I chose to focus on the “ask the expert” portion of this week’s prompt, meaning that the expert is you! I am going to share a few investigative journalism-type nonfiction that I have loved and would appreciate any recommendations you may have for me.

Catch and Kill, The Empire of Pain, and Bad Blood are three books I could not put down. I appreciated each of the authors for the passion that they had and felt that it really shone through their works. I think that is really why I love investigative journalism- the authors become so immersed in their research to the point that they themselves become part of the story.

Hidden Valley Road, Five Days at Memorial, and Say Nothing are three investigative journalism titles that are on my immediate TBR. I have heard incredible things about all three!

So there we have it! I cannot wait to read your recommendations or to talk about the subgenre in general!

  1. I have recently read Hidden Valley Road and I am curious to know what you would think of it! I think it is quite informative even if I was expecting something a bit different, even if I can’t really say what. But it was interesting and informative, at least to me!
