The Book Recommendation Tag

I started Kristin Kraves Books because I love talking about and recommending books, so this tag could not be more perfect for me!

Rules

  • Tag Ally @ Ally Writes Things so I can see your recommendations!
  • Give at least one recommendation for each of the prompts below
  • If you don’t have a recommendation, talk about a book you want to read
  • Tag your friends

A Book About Friendship

Book Cover

So many of the books that I read are about friendship. In fact, I am putting together a post all about this right now! That said, Let Me Hear a Rhyme was the book that instantly came to mind. This books tackles to many aspects of friendship, from the death of a friend to having a friend turn into something more. I loved that we were given perspectives from all three members of this friendship group!

A Translated Book

Book Cover

I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up Disoriental! It broke my heart and made for a tough read. We are following Kimiâ Sadr who fled to France from Iran when she was a child. She is reflecting back on the impact that had on her life and her relationships with the people in her family. Djavadi had another book come out last year but I am waiting for it to be translated!

A Diverse Romance

Book Cover

There are so many books to chose from, but I settled on You Had Me at Hola because it was one of my favourite romances of last year and Alexis Daria just had a cover release for her next book, A Lot Like Adios. I just bought a copy of You Had Me at Hola for my shelves because I am slowly collecting my favourite romances!

A Fast-Paced Book

Book Cover

The Good Sister is a thriller that really took me by surprise! I listened to it over the course of a day because I had to know what was happening. I became so attached to one of the sisters, which doesn’t happen for me often in thrillers. Definitely a fast-paced read!

A non-fiction book (not a memoir)

Book Cover

I finished Last Call yesterday and it is one of the best true crime books I have read in a long time. If you are like me and are looking for more true crime that focuses on the victims, this is the book for you!

An Underrated Memoir

Book Cover

If you liked The Glass Castle or Educated, I highly recommend picking up North of Normal.

A Book With Fewer Than 10,000 Ratings on Goodreads

Book Cover

The Voting Book has less than 4000 ratings on Goodreads, which really surprises me! I thought more people would have picked it up when it came out last year. I thought that this was a sweet romances that takes place over the course of a day. There are great discussions about the importance of voting but it doesn’t feel heavy-handed!

A Book With a LGBTQ+ Protagonist

Book Cover

I will find any opportunity to talk about Honey Girl! I just can’t help myself- it is so beautiful!

A Book By a Trans/Non-Binary Author

Book Cover

I absolutely adore The Subtweet and it is entirely too underrated- less than 2000 ratings on Goodreads! I love the conversations about fame and social media. A book I think about all the time!

A Book with More Than 500 Pages

Book Cover

I finished Jade City, which is 560 pages, and I cannot stop thinking about it. I just got Jade War in the mail and it is taking everything in me not to drop everything else I am reading and start it!

A short story collection

Book Cover

I am trying to read more short story collections, but one that stands out as a favourite is Florida by Lauren Groff. Each of the stories had such a strong sense of place! I need to read more from Groff and do own Fates and Furies.

A book you want everyone to read

Book Cover

I would by this book for everyone if I could. I think every reader would walk away from it having learned something and seeing a new perspective.
