Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm.
I am loving the theme for July that Shanah has come up with for Top Ten Tuesday. Throughout the month we will make our way through the alphabet, sharing a book for each letter. This week is PQRST!
(The) Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
I have talked about The Poppy War quite a bit on my blog! There is something about it that excites me. I am currently reading the sequel, The Dragon Republic, and I was reminded just how good this series is! It is a book that is out of my comfort zone and has inspired me to try more fantasy. Suggestions?
(The) Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin
I thought ‘Q’ would be difficult, but then I remembered this book! I think The Queen of Hearts just might have my favourite cover ever! It is so so beautiful in person. The story itself is very good. It is the first and only medical drama that I have ever read and it kept me interested the entire time. I loved that it alternated between the past and the present and that you slowly come to understand that there is a secret that is going to be revealed. Very entertaining!
Recursion by Blake Crouch
There were so many books that I could have chosen for ‘R’ but Recursion was the one that stood out to me. Black Crouch is a master at what he does- he writes SciFi like no one else! I was surprised by how touching this book ended up being and I think I enjoyed it even more than Dark Matter.
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
I mean… I had too! This is my favourite series! It is the book that made me fall in love with SciFi! I love that it is told in mixed media and it is an original take on aliens. There is an unnamed narrator who fascinates me and you never quite know whose side he is on. It is just such a great book!
Tin Man by Sarah Winman
Tin Man is one of my favourite books ever. There is something so quietly beautiful about it. I need to read more books about almost love stories! I also loved that friendship was so important to the story and that we follow the two main characters, Michael and Ellis, from when they first meet as kids until they are adults.
I have done pretty well so far but I get the feeling that next week is going to be a challenge… what book starts with ‘X’?!?
What books would you recommend that start with the letters PQRST?
