Here we are- the first book tag of 2019! I saw this tag on YA on the Mind and thought it was really fun and unique!
1-What was the last book you DNF?
It is very rare that I completely DNF a novel! There are times where I put down a book because it might not be the right time but I usually have the intention of picking it up again in the future. The last book I did this with was Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami. It is just a bit dense and something I really need to be in the mood for. I do plan to return to it though!
2-Last book you reread?
I rarely reread novels, but I would like to get better at it! The last one I reread was The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. It is a book that I have reread many times and the sequel came out last year, so of course I had to pick it up again. I gain more from it upon every reread!
3-Last book you bought?
With it being Christmas, I haven’t actually bought myself a book in quite some time! The last book that I received was actually gifted to me by my best friend and that was The Greatest Love Story Ever Told by Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. He knows how much I love both of them and I am so excited about this book! The cover is gorgeous and it is a really high quality book. It makes me happy just to look at it!
4-Last book you said you read but didn’t?
Hmmm… I do not think I have ever done this!
5-Last book you wrote in the margins of?
I have a beat-up copy of my favourite book, Cannery Row by John Steinbeck. I have a really nice copy but I do not read it because it is just too beautiful and special! Whenever I reread it, I pick up the beat-up copy and write more and more in the margins. It is the only book that I write in and have read multiple times!
6-Last book you got signed?
I received a signed copy of Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak for Christmas, and I was so surprised and thrilled! I adored The Book Thief, and I am happy to have a book with his signature in my collection. I can not wait to read it as well!
7-Last book you lost?
I am currently searching for my copy of East of Eden! I am planning to finally read it this year but I seem to have misplaced it! My parents have a cottage that I go to in the summer and I am thinking that maybe I left it there? I sure hope so because the edition that I have is quite beautiful!
8-Last book you had to replace?
I lent The Boy in the Striped Pajamas to my cousin (who might be reading this!) and I am still waiting for it back. Just kidding! She can keep it! I found a reasonably price copy of the 10th anniversary edition so I bought that and let her hang on to my other one. It is a really amazing book and the more people I can get to read it the better!
9-Last book you had an argument over?
Definitely Catcher in the Rye! It is one of my least favourite books, but my brother and my mom absolutely love it. That has led to a few debates! I do wish I enjoyed it though. I even read another Salinger novel, Franny and Zooey, this year hoping that I would fall in love with his writing, but if possible, I disliked it even more…
10-Last book you couldn’t get a hold of?
I have been looking everywhere for this Moleskine Book Journal, but it has proven difficult to find! I am starting to wonder if it is simply not available in Canada, which would be such a shame!
I’m with you about Catcher in the Rye. Don’t get it.
I wish that I did!
I agree with you on this. It is one classic which I never recommend.
I didn’t know Moleskine made book journals.
They make a bunch of “passion” journals for a variety of interest! They look very useful!
They really do, I have the journal with Snoopy on it.
Aw, I love Snoopy!
It’s really cute!
I rarely reread books either, but I reread The Five People You Meet in Heaven before reading the sequel! I’m so happy I did, because I loved it just as much as I did the first time. I recently caught Bridge of Clay on e-book sale, so I bought it and I can’t wait to read it.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven just gets better and better! I hope we both love Bridge of Clay! I haven’t seen a lot of people talk about it!
Ooh, great tag!
It really is!
Love this tag! I am with you on Catcher in the Rye though I am going to try at some point to reread it. I just didn’t think it was as good as everyone makes it out to be. As for the Moleskine book journal, B&N had it in our local store so I am pretty sure you can order it on the B&N website.
Thank you! After reading Franny and Zooey I need to take a break from Salinger’s writing but maybe I will try again one day! I would be curious to see what you think if you reread it! I wonder if B&N ships to Canada? I have never looked in to that!
I know they ship internationally or I know they sell it on Amazon as well.
Oh, awesome! Thanks for the tip! Going to look in to that now!
Fun! Oh my gosh!! I just put The Greatest Love Story Ever Told on hold through my library. I love them both!!
Yay! I think it is going to be hilarious! They are both so great!
I also don’t get the hype with Catcher in the Rye!
I wish I did! But I know that we are not alone!
Great tag! I genuinely cannot remember half the answers to these questions for myself, so good memory there!
Thank you! It did take some serious thinking!
Hahaha omg I bet!
This is such a cute book. What’s the genre for The Five People You Meet in Heaven? Also, I didn’t know Nick Offerman co-wrote a book, the cover is beautful 🙂
I think it is classified as inspirational fiction!
Isn’t the Nick Offerman book gorgeous? He has actually written a few books and I have heard great things about them!
I loved him in Parks and Rec
I just bought your #10 — the book journal!! I got it at Barnes & Noble. Maybe you can check there if there’s one close by or order it online. It’s so handy and I like the details in it and the feel of the pages. It’s what I’ve been searching for for awhile.
I’m so glad that it is good! This makes me more determined to get my hands on it! Going to check out Barnes and noble right now!
I love how polarizing Catcher in the Rye is LOL. I have yet to read it myself, since I hear so many people don’t like it, though just as many people say they do. I’m torn haha
It really is so polarizing. I think it is worth reading just to see what side you fall on!
Wow that’s so cool you got bridge of clay signed!!
I know! Was a great surprise!
