I have decided to start doing monthly non-bookish favourites. I think it is fun to talk about things other than books on this blog every once in awhile, and I figured this was a great way to do it! I will talk about all of the movies, TV shows, music, food, etc I loved during the month.
Crazy Rich Asians
Christopher Robin
This movie was so nostalgic for me and reminded me just why I loved Winnie the Pooh so much when I was younger. It moved me in a way that I wasn’t expecting and felt my eyes well-up quite a few times. It is heartbreaking, uplifting, and completely charming. It makes me want to revisit all of the Winnie the Pooh movies I loved when I was a kid.
The Great Canadian Baking Show
I love The Great British Bake Off, which also started this month, but I have a soft spot for The Great Canadian Baking Show. I am Canadian so I relate to it, and I just adore Dan Levy, who is one of the hosts. It is great to see all of the Canadian references and goodies!
Come Dine With Me UK
Come Dine With Me is so fun! The narrator is absolutely hilarious and it is interesting to see the dynamics between strangers cooking each other dinner. I put this one whenever I need something light.
Hazelnut Tim Horton’s K-Cup
I love flavoured coffee, specifically hazelnut. I can not believe it has taken me this long to discover the Tim Hortons Hazelnut K-Cups! So delicious!
Silk Hazelnut Almond Creamer
I love almond milk to I was so excited to see that there was almost creamer! I really enjoyed the original version, but this hazelnut flavour is the perfect combination with my new favourite coffee.
Dr. Death Podcast
This podcast is absolutely wild!! It is best to go in to in knowing absolutely nothing so I suggest you give it a try. It is shocking and eye-opening to say the least.
Ryerson Publishing Certificate Program
I have gone back to school! Ryerson University offers a distance study publishing certificate program which I decided to apply for and I am now enrolled in two online classes. It is more work than I was expecting but it has been amazing. I love the material and I am excited for the future.
‘The Wants’- The Emily Edit Palette
Emilynoel83 was one of the first beauty guru’s that I ever watched and she remains a favourite. She is so humble and I have learned a lot from her, and not just about makeup. I was so excited for her when she announced that she was collaborating with Makeup Revolution on a palette and bought it instantly. It is absolutely beautiful, as I knew it would be. This has become the only palette that I use!
I would love to know what your non-bookish favourites were this month!
What a lovely post! I watched Christopher Robin last month, and I thought it was amazing as well 🙂 There’s a Great Canadian Baking Show?! I’ve seen the British version, so I’ll have to research this!
Thank you!! There is an Australian Bake Off as well which I just love!!
I am always good for a podcast recommendation – it’s on the list! Great post.
Awesome! It is a crazy story for sure. Thank you!
Canada has it’s own bake off?? I LOVE that!!
They do!! I love it. It is so Canadian!
Love your selection. Do you follow master chef as well.
I do! I haven’t finished this season yet but I have watched them all. I love Gordon Ramsay!
Have you wanted Master chef Australia? That’s even better b
Yes!!! It is amazing! Although it takes commitment because there are so many episodes. I much prefer the format of the Australian one though and it is just more pleasant.
I love these posts. It’s such a good idea. I usually combine music and movies etc. in my monthly wrap up posts but this is such a good way to be able to separate them because the wrap up posts can get pretty long.
I love this so much – such a good idea, I’m definitely going to craft my own over the next couple of days. Also I’m really interested in The Great Canadian Baking Show – is it reminiscent of GBBO? Also is there a way for me to watch it in the UK?
Awesome! I am excited to see your favourites. There is a Great Canadian Baking Show! The format is exactly the same as the UK version. Here is a link but I am not sure that it works if you are not in Canada, but worth trying! https://www.cbc.ca/life/greatcanadianbakingshow
I really want to watch Christopher Robin! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve heard so much praise about it
It is so amazing! I was touched by it. It was so nice to be reminded why I loved Winnie the Pooh as a kid.
I love your list! I enjoy the almond creamer and will have to keep my eye open for the hazelnut version:)
I am so happy that they made a creamer. They have a few other flavours as well so I am looking forward to trying them!
Oh that will be good! I’ve been using the bliss caramel creamer in my tea- so yummy!
Great post! I’ve heard some really good things about Crazy Rich Asians and have been wanting to see it. I love the Great British Bake Off!!! The Great Canadian Baking Show sounds like it would be really good as well!
Crazy Rich Asians is a really stunning movie! The Great Canadian Baking Show definitely has the same charm as the British one!
I’m glad to hear you loved Christopher Robin! It was such a moving for me, I’m totally obsessed with it! 😀
Haha I have those Tim’s K-cups at home too 😛
Good luck with school! 🙂
Just thinking about Christopher Robin can bring a tear to my eye. Pooh sitting in front of the tree waiting for Christopher Robin? Heartbreaking! I just love my Timmies. Thanks!
Right! So emotional, but in a good way! Pooh is just so innocent, but full of wisdom, I love it! 😀
Haha! You’re welcome 🙂
I looveeeee the Great Canadian Baking show, dan Levy is the best! I can’t wait to start the newest season.
I have loved Dan Levy since he hosted The Hills After Show! I totally get his sense of humour. The newest season is great so far. I am enjoying all of the contestants.
I pretty much cried through the entirety of Christopher Robin! My mom and I saw it together and the nostalgia was amazing
I saw it with my mom too! Such a touching movie!
I LOVE Come Dine With Me! I saw a couple of episodes of the Canadian version a while back and the narrator tries to be snarky like the UK one, but you can’t beat British snark. 😀 And all the best wishes for your new classes!
I used to watch the Canadian one but it doesn’t hold a candle to the UK version!! Thank you!
Crazy Rich Asians!!! <3 That's also a beautiful palette!!
So good! I am so impressed with that palette. I have to force myself to use something else!
That’s great though! I have put myself on a makeup buying ban. I have so many palettes and always go to the same 2. LOL!
It’s a problem! There are so many gorgeous palettes but really we can probably get every shade we need in one or two. They are just so pretty!
I know! It’s so hard because I’m like…. there’s ONE shade that I don’t think I have. haha.. I totally probably do. They are all just so gorgeous and hard to resist!
I just started watching the Canadian version of GBBO and love it already! Also, love the podcast rec, my book club is always looking for new suggestions so I’ll bring that up at our next meeting
Good luck with your program! Publishing is such a cool industry!
Isn’t the Canadian version so good? I love that it still has the charm of the UK one! Dr. Death is a wild story. I hope your book club enjoys it!
Thank you!
congratulations on taking classes, that’s so exciting!! wishing you an excellent october 🙂
Thank you so much Emma! Same to you!😀
I haven’t listened to Dr. Death yet but it’s on my queue…I’m a little bit anxious about it, actually!!! But have been hearing it’s so so good.
I want to see Christopher Robin, it looks precious and I’m sure it’ll bring some happy nostalgia. And those hazelnut coffees and creamers sound absolutely amazing, hazelnut coffee is sometimes my sole motivation for getting out of bed in them morning!
It is really good but will make you second guess your doctor that is for sure. I can not believe he was able to practise as long as he did.
Christopher Robin is probably one of the most touching movies I have ever watched. So good!
Yes! I can not live without hazelnut coffee now!
I really like to do this too. I’ve developed a series of specialty posts that free my writing cycle from my reading cycle. Thanks and cheers, Brian
It is nice to talk about something other than books and reading once in awhile! We have other hobbies and interests that are worth talking about, I think!
