I am so happy to finally be participating in J.W. Martin’s weekly meme First Impression Friday. I have been meaning to since he first starting doing this but for some reason I was never just starting a book on Thursday/Friday!
First Impression Friday will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther.
Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet By Becky Chambers
I know that a lot of you just got really excited! This is so many people’s favourite book and I am thrilled that I finally got my hands on a copy. I have only read the first chapter but I am already captivated by it and I have very little doubt that it will live up to all of the hype. I have discovered that I really enjoy quiet Science Fiction, and I have a feeling that The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet falls in to that category. I want to share the first paragraph with you because I think it will also instantly intrigue you!
As she woke up in the pod, she remembered three things. First, she was travelling through open space. Second, she was about to start a new job, one she could not screw up. Third, she had bribed a government official into giving her a new identity file. None of this information was new, but it wasn’t pleasant to wake up to.
I am confident in saying that this will end up being a five star book for me. I say that based not only on what I have read and loved so far, but also based on reviews from fellow bloggers who I trust, as well as knowing the kind of books that I enjoy. I really hope that I am right about this because I am looking for another SciFi series to fall in love with as much as The Themis Files.
I really loved doing this and I hope I can participate more often! I will definitely link back to this in my wrap-up/review of this book in the future!
What a great idea.
I think so too!
You’re welcome to take part as well! 😉
I’ve seen this book everywhere, but I’m not a huge sci-fi fan, so I don’t know if I’d like it 🤔 love this post idea!
Me too! Such a great meme! I will let you know if it is SciFi heavy or not!
I enjoy Scifi every now and then so must look this one up!
It seems like it is going to be a good one!
Okay. This book was already on my TBR, but now that I’ve read the first paragraph it just shot WAY up on the list! Thanks for playing along with First Impression Friday!!
Doesn’t it sound so good?! Of course! I loved writing this and will definitely make an effort to participate more often!
Yay!
I loved this book! I wasn’t as enthralled by the second one, but I am looking forward to reading the third one, which just came out.
Oh that is good to know. I hope you end up loving the third book!
This is such a good idea. Stolen!
Awesome!!
I want to read it ASAP 😍 ❣
So good so far!!
I have one more question Kristen about your goodreads link? I copied the image button. And I tried copying the page that displays purchasing it… but when I copy it and view it… I see a different view. Does that makes sense? Is there a trick to how you copy your goodreads page? Thank you so much, I hate to bug bloggers for advice… 💗💗💗
No problem! I enjoy helping when I can! I just search the book on Goodreads and use that link. Here’s an example: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3.Harry_Potter_and_the_Sorcerer_s_Stone?ac=1&from_search=true
Ya I’m not sure if it’s my iPad or my version of goodreads… I will see that link, but when I copy n paste it…it’s views differently on my blog. Grr… ok, I’ll keep working on it. Thank you!
That’s so weird!! When I get to my laptop later today I’ll try to look in to that!
I know exactly what I was doing wrong… when I got the book’s page with the link.. if I opened it then copied it…it didn’t work. But if I copy the link without opening the page it went just fine. Something as simple as that, and it took me over an hour! 🙄
I totally get that! I have wasted so much time trying to figure out problems like that!
This is the link I see.. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18263725-the-crossover?from_search=true
I got it! 💗💗💗finally!! Thank you, sorry for messing up your comments, feel free to delete! Lol
Oh good!! No problem at all!
I haven’t really seen this book around but that opening paragraph makes me want to pick it up so badly. I can’t wait to see your final thoughts on it!
I am so excited about it! I will definitely update you on what I end up thinking about it!
Huh, I’m only slightly aware of this book, so I think I’ll check it out! I didn’t know it was so beloved, so I’ll definitely put it on my TBR! 🙂
That makes me happy! I haven’t had a lot of time to pick it up this weekend but I am still adoring it so far!
