september 2026 releases

Fall is almost here and this is my favourite time of year for so many reason but most of all it always an amazing times when it comes to new releases and this year is no different!

september 1st

I have only read two books from Rachel Harrison but she is an author whose entire backlist I would love to get through eventually. I think she has a unique take on the horror genre and I love her sense of humour. I am a little nervous about the time loop aspect because that is not my favourite trope but I love anyhting centered around weddings and I think she is an author who could make me love something that doesn’t normally work for me.

One thing I will never get tired of is witchy stores told in two timelines. That is why I love CJ Cooke as much as I do and I am exciting to find something like that from a different author. You also need to look up the edges on this one- gorgeous!

The title alone makes me want to read this. I am always up for some campy horror with some romance. I have also heard that it is slow burn, which I always appreciate.

I loved The Immortalists so I have been impatiently waiting for something knew from Chloe Benjamin for years now and I am thrilled. I appreciate the mix of literary fiction and fantasy/scifi that she does and I hope that her characters are as memorable as they were in The Immortalists.

I have had The Library at Mount Char sitting on my TBR for years now and I really need to get to it! I think it has been a decade since that came out so fans of that book must be excited for this one. No idea what to expect but definitely curious!

The Pumpkin Bride by Fiona Buttercup? I mean how cute is that? Obviously this isn’t something you can take too seriously. All I want from it is for it to make me laugh and feel nostalgic.

I have read a few Gothic historical horrors that have really worked for me so I am always open to trying them. They tend to be super atmospheric. This is a debut that has been getting incredible early reviews!

Dystopian romantasy seems to be having a moment and I have yet to read any but I do think it is a genre I could love and have a couple on my TBR. I am an eldest daughter so the idea behind this is interesting to me. Can we stop comping every book to The Hunger Games and Fourth Wing though?

I will be honest the cover caught my eye first but I have been loving literary fiction lately and I especially love family stories. I also love that this is a generational story and my grandparents immigrated to Canada from Italy so I will be curious if I relate to this in any way.

I am hoping that this isn’t too focused on a love triangle, but I have seen some reviews that have me curious. I have realized that I love romances told in alternating timelines. I have a feeling this is going to be an emotional one!

I loved The Poppy War and struggled with Babel but I am always curious about R.F. Kuang and hope to at least try everything by her eventually. This seems to be getting mixed reviews but I think that is pretty common when it comes to her work, but those who love her really love her!

Literary fiction with a touch of magical realism is something I will always be drawn to. Although it is only 160 pages, I have a feeling it’s going to leave an impact and I am ready.

I think I have only read one book by K Ancrum but all of her boos intrigue me. I think that she has some amazing ideas, I just need to take the time to explore her backlist a little more. Admittedly Frankenstein isn’t my favourite book but I do appreciate retellings of it because there are so many different angles you can take.

Admittedly, I did not love The Girls but it has stayed with me all these years later because of the writing. I am more than open to trying something else from Emma Cline and it helps that this was longlisted for the Booker Prize!

I have an ALC of this and I think it might be one of the books I start the fall season with! I love a haunted house and a creepy forest combo so hopefully this one works for me.

I absolutely loved Cemetery Boys and cannot believe we are getting a sequel. It has been so long since that came out that I might need to reread it first, though as I am typing this I am remembering a lot of details. It was just that good!

This is another one I have an ALC for and cannot wait to get to! I always say that I don’t tend to love pirate stories but I love the idea of them and I am determined to find one that hits for me.

Well P. Djeli Clark endorsed this one so that instantly caught my attention!

This looks super cozy and it is sapphic and is witchy and also set at a B&B- my vibes!

I have an ALC of this and I am so looking forward to it. I have been told it is dark and unsettling- so perfect for this time of year!

I really like Premee Mohamed and I think that she is underrated! I cannot wait to see what she does with a sci-fantasy that is also a thriller?

I do not play D&D but I still appreciate the idea of it and have heard good things about Roll for Romance, so I need to get to that one first because these just look like a good time!

The early reviews for this have been incredible and I love the set up!

This better be as cozy as it looks! A travelling bookshop is all I needed to know to add this to my TBR!

This looks adorable and I am part of a witchy book club and I think this would be a fun one for us to read together. I love that he owns a gaming shop!

I hope that this leans into the cheesiness of it all!

I love this cover and I appreciate that the dagger seems to actual play a significant role in the story.

This cover is just so good! I love a good bodyguard romance and it has been a minute since I’ve read one.

I really loved book one and this synopsis sounds even more like something I would love!

I have a feeling a lot of people will be reading and talking about this one!

I read an ARC of this and it is incredible for its target audience. I am not a middle grade reader but I make exceptions for my favourite authors, including Elizabeth Acevedo. I think if you liked Poet X, this is worth picking up.

It would not be fall if we didn’t have some dark academia releases! I haven’t seen as many this year though. Love the synopsis of this one!

There are not enough books out there that follow artists and it makes me sad because they are some of my favourites. The fact that this is also a gothic folktale retelling is a bonus!

The vibes of this are too perfect and I am hoping to read it on release day. I love a zombie story that has a bit of humour and I know this will be a fun read.

Read some early reviews that made me want to add this to my TBR. The premise sounds horrific and topical and I know I will have to be in the mood for it but I will have my annotation supplies ready for when I am.

september 22nd

I absolutely adored Belladonna (and need to continue on with the series!) and this seems like something a little different from her. Knights are definitely having a moment right now and I am curious to see her take on them.

I want to fall in love with romantasy again and I know so many people love this author!

You don’t see a lot of books comped to My Best Friend’s Wedding and that intrigues me. Also this punny title is just too good!

I will devour any revenge story especially if there is a ragtag crew involved!

This just sounds heartwarming and a sweet romance that I will probably need to break up all the horror and more intense fantasy I hope to read in the next few months.

A romance between the devils right hand woman and a prince from hell? Sounds absolutely ridiculous! I am in!

I just read a short story from Tananarive Due and really liked it so I need to read a full length novel from her. I am sure I will start with The Reformatory because it is so beloved but this also sounds incredible and has a lot of themes that I am drawn to.

september 29th

Pachinko is probably in my top five books of all time so I cannot begin to express to you how excited I am for this one. The fact that it is another generational saga makes it even better. I actually need to go preorder it!

A fantasy inspired by Tudor England? Say no more!

I have a friend who is reading an ARC of this right now and is in love with it. Said that when she isn’t read it, she is thinking about it and that is always such a great feeling!

I do not read as much YA these days but I will pick them up when they are by my favourite authors and I am intrigued by Isabel Canas’ YA debut. There are some YA horror novels that I absolutely loved and I think this one might be added to that list. I love Gothic novels with a lot of atmosphere and I know this author will deliver.

These advent calendar books are always fun for me even when they aren’t the best written. That said, I have a good feeling about this one looking at the authors who contributed to it. I have enjoyed books from Alexandra Bellefleur, Elise Bryant, Alexis Daria, and Sarah Hogle and have heard incredible things about the other authors as well.

This just looks fun! A little bit of magic mixed into a romcom set in the 1920s- that has my name written all over it!

We always seem to get some interesting anthologies this time of year and a lot of authors who I adore contributed to this one (Zoraida Cordova and Isabel Canas for example) plus quite a few who are new to me. Would love to get a physical copy because this is the kind of collection I could see myself annotating.

I have heard such incredible things about The Secret Lives of Church Ladies and I do appreciate books that explore religion in this way. It shows you how little I know because I had no idea that a paster’s wife is referred to as a First Lady.

I need to get to Trust before I pick this one up but now that I have re-embraced my love for literary fiction I could see that happening sooner rather than later! I think we are going to get more and more of these books that focus on how technology will impact our future.
