I finally caved and bought a new laptop which has made editing videos and writing blog posts way less frustrating and has motivated me to try to get back to blogging again! I have really missed it.
I thought talking about my summer reading plans would be a fun and easy way to get back into it because I love putting together a TBR and I do some of my best reading in the summer. I am breaking down the list into a few categories and, as a mood reader, this is obviously more of a guide, but I am excited for all of these. Let me know what is the one book you want to read this summer and if you have thoughts on any of the books on this list. Missed you all!
Physical

The Raven Scholar has been recommend to me personally a couple times and from people who know my reading taste pretty well, so I was thrilled when I received a copy for my birthday. I am trying not to be intimidated by the fact that it is over 600 pages and to just trust that I am going to love it. In fairness, everything about it screams “Kristin”, so I am hopeful. I am going to read in slowly while also reading other books in between and I think that will work best for me.
I have an ALC of When the Tides Held the Moon from libro.fm and have been hearing incredible things about this book. My brother and his girlfriend gave me a gift card to a bookstore for my birthday (the best gift ever!) and I ran out to grab a physical copy so I could immersion read it and also the physical copy is just stunning. There are illustrations and some pages are in blue and that is just so much fun to me. This screams summer to me- it is a historical romance between a man and a merman. Yes, please!
There is nothing that screams summer to me more than baseball! I want to be someone who loves sports romances but I struggle with them for whatever reason. That said, I don’t think I have tried a baseball one yet and I do come from a baseball loving family. It doesn’t hurt that the cover of The Art of Catching Feelings is adorable and I have loved something from Alicia Thompson in the past.
I have had New Suns 2 sitting in my TBR cart for a minute now and it is calling to me and obviously summer seems like the perfect time to finally read it. I want to be someone who reads and loves short stories but I just don’t gravitate towards them very often. I think this will be a good start because I adore a lot of the authors who contributed to the collection and I am always up for some SciFi. My plan is to read one story a night because that just sounds like fun!
Kindle/ARCs

I have started using Threads recently and I didn’t realize how big the book community is over there and have been getting some great recommendations. That is how I came across All Superheroes Need PR and was excited to find it on Kindle Unlimited. I have been desperately to find a superhero book that works for me since I was disappointed by Hench even though I loved the premise. I think this could be the winner. It is a romance between a villain and the PR person he has hired to help change his image. So cute!
Between the adorable cover and punny title, how could I not request an ARC of Hopelessly Teavoted!? Everything about it appeals to me and it sounds like the perfect book to read in that transition between summer and fall. It comes out on September 16th, so I hope to get to it late August and cannot wait. Giving me a witchy rom-com set in a small town following a character who owns a tea shop and I am here for it!
I read a lot of witchy rom-coms but it isn’t very often that I come across a vampire one, that is why I requested an ARC of A Good Vampire’s Guide to Blood and Boyfriends. I think the humour will work for me and a lot of the reviews describe it as charming, which is all I want.
I have to admit that I have not read anything by Rebecca Ross even though I own Divine Rivals and know I am going to love it. That is why I asked for Wild Reverence and it will be the first book from her I will read. It has about 400 ratings on Goodreads and a 4.62 average rating, which is just incredible. It is almost 600 pages but it doesn’t come out until September 2nd, so I have all summer to finish it!

I realize I have so many books that follow supernatural creatures (witches, vampires, merman, and now werewolves) and apparently that is just what I am being drawn to this summer and I am embracing it. Witch of the Wolves has been sitting on my kindle for ages now even though it does not come out until the end of September and I just want to get to it already! I do struggle with some of the tropes that come with werewolves, but the inclusion of witches has me curious, so we will see how I feel.
I just have a feeling that I am going to love H.G. Parry and have had my eye on all of her books for ages. I was approved for an ALC of A Far Better Thing and I am excited to finally have excuse to read something from her. I love that it is a standalone and is a faery revenge story set during the French Revolution. It is also inspired by A Tale of Two Cities!
The Spellshop was one of my best books of last year, so I couldn’t resist requesting the follow-up, The Enchanted Greenhouse, the moment it was available. I squealed when I got approved for the ALC the other day and by the time this is posted I am sure I am in the middle of listening to it. I have not read enough cozy fantasy this year and that needs to change, starting with this book. I have loved everything I have read from Sarah Beth Durst so far!
Ladies in Hating is actually the third book in a series and I have not read the first two, but I am sure they can be read out of order as is typical with romance series. I have been wanting to read more historical romances and fake dating continues to be one of my favourite tropes. Everything about this looks like the perfect summer read!

I am reading a lot of fantasy and romance this summer, so I had to throw Blood on Her Tongue on to this TBR and I have the ALC from libro.fm. I do tend to crave vampire stories in the summer for whatever reason and that is definitely what this is. It also follow sisters, one who seems to be turning into a vampire, and that is a dynamic I always love to read.
I am ashamed to say that I have not read One Dark Window, though I own it, but I was still excited when libro.fm sent me The Knight and the Moth. This is already out and I have seen mixed reviews among friends on booktube, but the reviews on Goodreads are amazing- almost 24,000 ratings and a 4.47 average rating.
New Releases

I read anything that Tiffany D Jackson writes without questions- I do not care the genre or the age category, so I am here for a middle grade thriller from her! I saw someone post a vlog reading an ARC of Blood in the Water and it had me even more excited for July 1st, the book’s release date. I think that she will do something unique with this story and that this might be a could book to start with if you want to introduce younger kids to the thriller genre. I will be reading it on release date and I will keep you posted on my thoughts!
Evocation is a divisive book and I knew it would be as I was reading it but it became one of my favourite books of last year and I still think about it often. I am such a character reader and I was fascinated by the dynamics between these characters. So you know I am waiting on baited breathe for the sequel, Ascension.
I won’t ramble on with this but T. Kingfisher is my favourite author and she seems to be releasing a new book every August and I absolutely love that. It is such a nice feeling to know that I can end my summer with a book from my favourite author. She actually has a few books coming out this year but Hemlock and Silver is up first!
Book Club

I am part of a witchy book club on YouTube and this month’s book is Hot Hex Boyfriend. We are actually having the discussion early this month and are doing a live on my channel on Sunday. It is a witchy contemporary romance, so a quick read, and I would love to see you there!
July’s book is House of Blight and, I will be honest, I know next to nothing about this book, so I am kind of excited to go into it with little to no expectations.

Aww you honestly made my day. I didn’t even realize anyone would have noticed I disappeared so this is so motivating you have no idea. I’m working on a post with some highlights of the books I have read since I’ve been gone so will definitely have some recommendations there!
And I know! I have seen people as excited for the new Rebecca Ross so happy I could put it on your radar. Sounds amazing!
What?? I always read and loved your anticipated releases because you are my GO TO for that info. I’ve been stalking you on youtube ever since but I personally prefer blogs so I’m so happy to have you back here. I read Princess Floralinda because of you and, so far, it’s one of my favorites of the entire year
That makes me so happy! I have a secret agenda of making everyone read Princess Floralinda. It’s so underhyped!!!
Adding a bunch of these to my TBR! Good to have you back and blogging!
I’m so glad!
It’s great to see you back! 😁
Happy reading!
Aw thank you!
Welcome back and good luck with your summer reading plans! I’m so excited for The Enchanted Greenhouse, as I loved The Spellshop 🥰
Thank you! The Spellshop was one of my faves from last year and I’m about 40% into The Enchanted Greenhouse now and dare I say I might be liking it even more??
I’m reading A Far Better Thing right now, I hope you love it! Uriah Heep was so good, I’m excited to read another by her.
Glad to see you’re back. I also have When the Tides Held the Moon on my summer TBR, and I recently picked up a copy of Raven Scholar. Been hearing good things about both.
