January TBR | Once Upon a Readathon

I am a co-host for Once Upon a Readathon and the theme this round is Frostlands- so you will find some winter-themed books on my TBR!

Since I am the co-captain of Team Ice Fae, one of the ways to get points for the team is to read retellings of the Father Frost story, which is perfect because The Bear and the Nightingale is one of my favourite books and just happens to be a retelling of Father Frost! I read the first book years ago and never continued on with the series, so I am excited to have an excuse to finally pick it up. I am also someone who puts a lot of weight into the first book I read in a year, so starting with a reread of a book I know I already adore sounds like a safe bet.

I can also get points for my team by reading books that feature fae, so why not read Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries for the third time in under a year. That is unheard of for me, but I just love this book so much! The sequel, Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands, also comes out in January, so I will be picking that up on release day.

Another reread! Who am I? I read The Raven and the Reindeer for the first time last January and adored it. It is too perfect for the readathon not pick it up again and I need to start my year with something from T. Kingfisher! If you are looking for a Snow Queen retelling, look no further!

I am officially part of the Black Hat Book Coven and this could not be a more perfect book club for me! If there is one thing I love, it is witchy books, and the point of this book club is to read witchy books of all genres. The Witch and the Tsar is the book for January and there will be reading sprints and a live show discussion. I have had my eye on this book, so I cannot wait to read and discuss it!

Lore of the Wilds is a book featuring fae that I have been excited about for awhile now, so I was thrilled when I was sent an eARC! It comes out in February, so I plan to read it in January because it is too perfect for the readathon and I want to have a review out to you before release day.

Faebound is a January release, but I have this stunning edition from Fairyloot. It has the word “fae” in the title, so now is the perfect time to read it. I have also been curious about Saara El-Arifi’s books!

I will be buddy reading The Thursday Murder Club with some friends on Discord. This is actually another reread for me and I am excited/nervous to continue on with the series after seeing everyone crying after reading the last book!

Time to Shine was on my TBR in December but I decided to save it for January because I will be reading a lot of fantasy in January and need a sweet romance to break things up and this is perfect for the readathon! I want to be one of those people who loves hockey romances!
