Vampire Book Recommendations to Die For πŸ©ΈπŸ§›πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ¦‡

Vampire books seem to have been having a resurgence and I am loving it! I put together a list of recommendations last year, so most of these are books I have read since then.

These are not new recommendations but I just can’t in good conscience put together a list of vampire book recommendations and not include my two favourites! The Immortal Rules is the first book in a YA fantasy series from ten years ago but it continues to be one of my favourites. I still remember everything that happens so vividly and it has one of my favourite morally grey characters. Certain Dark Things is my favourite book from Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I am just in awe of all of the vampire lore than she created and I hope she writes more books in this world!

These days, I think you will see A Dowry of Blood on most lists like this one and that is for good reason. There is something so beautiful, harrowing, and empowering about this book and it instantly made me a huge S.T. Gibson fan. It is written as a series of letters from Dracula’s first bride as she unpacks how abusive their relationship is. I also love that she never actually names him!

The Serpent and the Wings of Night has been getting a lot of buzz this year and I have contributed to that. It is probably the book that got me on board with fantasy romance. I love a book that has some kind of competition and when you had a vampire into the mix, what is not to love?

Six Scorched Roses is the novella that comes after The Serpent and the Wings of Night. If you are like me and you normally skip the novellas within larger fantasy series, I recommend not doing that with this one. I absolutely adored this and thought it added to the world of the series overall.

Obsession is the first book in the Mate Games series, which is the only “why choose?” series I have ever read. This was a ridiculously fun time and two of the four love interests just happen to be vampires. One is a vampire priest and the other is a vampire prince. Do with that as you will!

If you are like me and you like campy YA paranormal novels that are often sapphic, I highly recommend The Lost Girls. The best way to describe this book is that it is John Tucker Must Die but with vampires! It is following a group of teen vampires who are seeking revenge against the vampire who turned them.

If you want an adorable vampire story, you have to read Garlic and the Vampire and its sequel, Vampire and the Witch. These are some of the cutest graphic novels I have ever read and you will want to reread them every fall. That is my plan!

I just finished Vampires of El Norte and I definitely recommend it if you go into it with the right expectations. I would say this is primarily a historical romance with vampires attack happening in the background and as a means to drive the plot. It was quite beautiful though!

I am almost done with My Roommate is a Vampire and having such a good time with it. This is very much like those witchy romcoms I love but with a vampire instead, which is something I hope we see more and more of. There are so many hilarious misunderstandings in this book and it is bringing me so much joy!

  1. I tried to get the ARC of My Roomate Is A Vampire but didn’t. After not getting Icebreaker and buying it and being so disappointed with it, I’m leary of sensational books now.

    1. I didn’t read Icebreaker either! It seems a little long for a romance and I started to hear mixed things.

I’m loving My Roommate Is A Vampire but I can see how it wouldn’t be for everyone. It’s ridiculous but so lighthearted and fun!

      1. I got 20% into Icebreaker and it disgusted me. And I’ve read some very Spicy books. This wasn’t Spice. It wasn’t hockey either. The plot hadn’t emerged and I was done.

  2. Haha this is perfect timing. I’m writing my dissertation about vampires and vampire fiction. Gotta plan out my reading list this weekend. Definitely gonna consider some of these for the list haha.

  3. I am in such a vampire mood at the minute so thank YOU so much for this list. I brought A Dowry of Blood earlier this year and I hope to read it soon.
I didn’t realise The Serpent and the Wings of Night had vampires in it! I don’t know why I didn’t know this, I’ve seen the cover around a lot! Consider me intrigued!
