WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

I just started Reel because I thought it would be the perfect book to read on Valentine’s Day! I have a feeling I am about to go down a Kennedy Ryan rabbit hole…

Just Finished

I finished The Last Tale of the Flower Bride and, sadly, I think I have an unpopular opinion! The writing is undeniably beautiful and there were a lot of quotes that I annotated, but I think this book has been mismarketed. It does not read like a fantasy and is not a romance. It is about a toxic friendship more than anything and is almost a thriller? Though I saw the ending coming from a mile away! This won’t stop me from trying more from this author because the writing was stunning!

I read Mysterious Ways because I am reading all of the SPFBO finalists and this one really surprised me. I had so much fun with it and got through it so quickly. I adore these characters and I hope that the author publishes the sequel soon! I think I like the classic overworld vs underworld setup.

Coming Home is an Audible Original and is a novella. This was my introduction to Kennedy Ryan and has made me want to read everything she has written! The hero was a little frustrating to me but the connection was undeniable and this was a quick listen!

I am finally continuing with the Wayfarers series and I am so happy! A Closed and Common Orbit was much more focused than the first book and I think it tackled some questions that were brought up in The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet in a more in-depth way. I thought I would feel disappointed that it doesn’t follow all of the characters from book one, but I quickly fell for these new characters.

Starting Next

I have an ARC of Clytemnestra and I will be buddy reading it with a friend! I love a good Greek myth retelling and I am fascinated by this character in particular, so I am excited!

  1. That’s so interesting to hear about the The Last Tale of the Flower Bride! I just added it to my TBR list so I’ll be interested to read it! Hoping to find it at the library soon. Thanks for sharing!

  2. So glad you are enjoying Chambers. I’m hoping to start that series this year (hopefully). I look forward to seeing what you think of Clytemnestra.

  3. I just started Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort, a Phantom of the Opera retelling. I’m curious to see how it goes; at the moment (near the start) it feels more angsty than I had anticipated.

I had a similar experience with Chokshi’s Once More Upon a Time (beautiful but I liked it a lot less than popular opinion) so I can’t say I’m surprised about The Last Tale of the Flower Bride. I hope you find something else of hers that you enjoy more, though!

  4. I’ve also been wanting to get into Kennedy Ryan lately! I won Before I Let Go and hope to get to it soon – happy reading 🥰
