The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches may seem like a fall read, but I actually think it can be enjoyed all year long. It is so cozy and charming and sweet and is the perfect book to read when you find yourself falling into a slump.
The Girl Who Fell Beneath Sea reads like a fairytale, which makes it a cozy read in my mind. It is one of those whimsical books that you can find yourself lost in. The writing was also really beautiful!
I debated about which T. Kingfisher book to add to this list because I would consider all of her fantasy stories to be cozy. I decided on A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking because it is my favourite and I think this is the perfect time of year to read it! There is an army of gingerbread men and the main character’s companion is a sourdough starter named Bob.
Baking Bad is the first book in a cozy mystery series that has a fantasy twist because there are dragons. The dragons have a POV and they are hilarious! It has all of the typical cozy mystery tropes but with a twist and it is delightful.
I feel that Legends and Lattes is going to be on many lists this week, but to me, it is the ultimate cozy read! Is there anything more charming than reading about an orc barbarian who retired and opened a coffee shop? I don’t think so!

A lot of Becky Chambers’ books are what I would consider cozy, but the A Monk and Robot series is on another level! A Psalm for the Wild-Built is the first book in the series and it is set in a world where robots have abandoned humans but a monk and a robot have formed a friendship. I adore this series!
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy is an enemies-to-lovers romance set in an intriguing fantasy world that has You’ve Got Mail vibes.
Still Life is the first book in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series and I think the setting of this series makes it feel cozy. They almost read like cozy mysteries.
I almost put Pride and Prejudice on this because it is my ultimate comfort read, but I thought I would take the opportunity to highlight Pride and Premeditation again. It is a mystery where Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy work together to solve a murder that Bingley is being framed for!
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry is on a small island where our main character owns a bookstore. Ultimate cozy vibes!

Great list! I have only read a few of these but I do like how fantasy has made its way into the subgenre of cozy!
Me too! It is my new favourite subgenre for sure.
I’ve heard good things about the Secret Society of Irregular Witches. Like not to cozy where there isn’t conflict but it can be dealt with in a satisfying way.
That’s exactly it! There are still stakes but it’s really sweet.
I’ve seen Legends and Lattes on so many TTTs today–I’ll have to check it out!

It’s amazing!! One of my favourites!
You don’t seem to be alone in that, haha!
That first one was a cozy read. It warmed my heart.
Same! I was excited to see it made it to the next round in the Goodreads Awards!
I love your list! I almost included Gamache/Three Pines. I started her new book on audio this morning.
I’m so behind on the series. I need to catch up!!
I love this list. The Very Secret Society and Hart & Mercy were both so good!! And I’ve seen Legends and Lattes on a few lists today. It sounds so cute.
Legends and Lattes is the ultimate cozy book!
