Currently Reading

I am a few chapters into The Ballerinas, which is one of my five-star predictions. I want to make my way through that list and this one was calling out to me! I love anything that shows the dark side of ballet and I am loving the pace of this one so far. I have a feeling I will fly through it! I have heard that it is more of a character study than it is a mystery, so I am glad that I am going into it with the right expectations.

Just Finished

I read The Tropic of Serpents, the second book in the Memoirs of Lady Trent series, and very much enjoyed it. It is much more political than the first one, which I actually appreciate. I love the memoir-style that these books are written in and it is certainly a unique take on dragons! If you want to hear more about my thoughts, check out our discord. Wow. Blood Scion is one of the most intense books I have ever read. It is truly brutal but so incredible. Deborah Falaye doesn’t let you breathe for even a second. I was not prepared for it to make me so emotional. I have never needed a sequel so badly in my entire life. I keep checking Goodreads to see if it has been announced, even though Blood Scion just came out! I have read many interviews with Deborah Falaye at this point and she did a lot of research into child soldiers, so keep in mind that that is the kind of content to expect in this book.

After reading Blood Scion, I needed something joyful, so I decided to listen to A Walk in the Park and it was perfect. It is a quick audiobook and an adorable romance between two people who were both promised the same dog at the shelter and decide to split custody. Obviously, they end up having a ton of chemistry! Because this is so quick, it doesn’t have a lot of the classic tropes we see in romance, like miscommunication or the third act breakup, so it was refreshing. Starting Next

I have very much been mood reading lately, so who knows what I will feel once I finish The Ballerinas, but something is telling me that now is the time to finally read Salt to the Sea. I have read Pachinko and Blood Scion this month, so why not add another heartbreaker to the list.
