Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you are all having an okay week. I got my booster on Friday and it wiped me out for a few days. I always react that way to vaccines, no matter what they are! I did a lot of blog hopping while lying in my bed for days, and that is when I found this tag on Michaela’s blog, Journey Into Books. I am also challenging myself and only allowing Pride and Prejudice to be an answer for one of these questions…
What are 1-3 of your favourite books of all time?

If you made me choose between Never Let Me Go, The Lonely Hearts Hotel, or Piranesi I don’t think that I could do it! There are all completely different novels, but there is a vibe to them that feels similar. I think I am drawn to stories that have a dark undertone and memorable characters.
What are 1-3 of your favourite authors of all time?

I don’t think I have ever given a book by Kazuo Ishiguro, Tiffany D. Jackson, or Becky Chambers anything less than 4.5 stars. I have read everything that Tiffany D. Jackson has written and am making my way through the backlists of both Ishiguro and Chambers and will continue to read anything that they write.
Who is your favourite female character of all time?

There are so many female characters who I adore, so I went with a recent favourite- Daunis from Firekeeper’s Daughter. I thought there was no way that this book would live up to the hype, but it surpassed it in my mind! I think Daunis was a compelling and authentic protagonist and appreciated seeing the world through her eyes. She felt like a real teenager who is forced to deal with adult issues and I felt for her so deeply and just adored her. I find myself so emotional while reading the last third. I was not prepared!
Who is your favourite male character in a book?

I went with another recent favourite for this question! Daniel from Part of Your World is my new favourite love interest! He gives me very much Like vibes from Gilmore Girls. I cannot wait for everyone to read this when it comes out in April and you can all fall in love with him as I did!
What is your favourite mythical world?

I am not a huge fan of the original story of Peter Pan, but I do love Neverland and any retellings that are set there. There is something so dreamy about this world but there is darkness there as well.
What book has your favourite cover?

I don’t think I could choose a favourite book cover of all time, but the cover for Daughter of the Moon Goddess has got to be up there. There is something so striking about it! Kuri Huang is the illustrator and they are ridiculously talented!
What is your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

There it is! The only time I am allowing myself to talk about Pride and Prejudice. I had to for this question because Pride and Prejudice (2005) is not only my favourite book-to-movie adaptation, it is my favourite movie in general. I could not begin to tell you how many times I have seen it!
If you could make any book into a movie, what would it be?

If you have read Razorblade Tears, you know it would make for an incredible movie/series. The rights have actually been purchased, and it is currently in development, which makes me a little nervous because I hope they do these characters justice! I cannot wait until we get more information.
What was your favourite childhood book?

I was enamoured with anything by Robert Munsch when I was a kid, but The Paper Bag Princess brings me the most nostalgia. I also almost chose Stephanie’s Ponytail!
Fantasy or sci-fi? (Or neither?)

I enjoyed both, but I am more drawn to SciFi and am rarely disappointed by the SciFi that I do pick up. So many of my favourite books and series are SciFi, from Project Hail Mary to The Themis Files to Klara and the Sun. I also love a whole range of SciFi- from AI to first encounter. I am truly open to it all!

Tiffany Jackson indeed is a great author! Great post! Have you read White Smoke?
She really is! I have! It is not my favourite of hers but I still really liked it and I am excited for more horror for her. I know she has one inspired by Carrie coming out this year!
Yes indeed excited for horror! And omg I didn’t know that she has one coming out inspired by Carrie! Excited for that! Also wanted to ask what is your most favourite book by her?
Yes! It is called The Weight of Blood.
My favourite of hers is Monday’s Not Coming. It was devastating and there was so much I did not see coming!
Oh I will definitely see more about The Weight Of Blood!
I have heard great things about Monday’s Not Coming! I will definitely pick it up
Great answers! I really need to pick up FireKeeper’s Daughter.
I am so glad that I finally read it! It was incredible.
I loved reading your answers to these 🙂
I’m so glad! 😊
I enjoyed reading your answers! Yes to P&P adaptations. I especially enjoy the BBC version with Colin Firth but the smoldering in the 2005 movie is wonderful. 🤣
I have never seen the Colin Fitth version even though I really want to! I am just so attached to the 2005 version!
I always feel like the first one you see sets the bar and everything else falls behind just a bit. The 2005 definitely has the atmosphere and the tension down. And the smolder. Can’t forget the smolder. 🤣
I am all about the smolder and the hand clenching! The little things. And I think you are so right about the first one you see. Makes so much sense!
This is great! Agreed about the P&P adaptation. It’s the only one I will watch now. Ishiguro is on my TBR for later this year because I keep seeing him on everyone’s favorites lists.
I hope to read Firekeeper’s Daughter this year. It just sounds so intriguing!
It is fantastic. I am so glad that I finally got around to it!
Good work–I’ve not read most of these, but they are interesting. I’m off to check what versions of P/P I’ve watched!
Yes! Let me know!
What a fun tag, and I too believe that Pride & Prejudice (2005) is an adaptation masterpiece.
Yes! I love that so many people agree with me. I know what I am watching tonight 😂
People who say Pride and Prejudice (2005) isn’t the perfect adaptation are wrong tbqh 😂
Speaking facts! I am not someone who gets upset when people don’t love my faves, but Pride and Prejudice (2005) is the exception!
Never Let Me Go was so perfect… I had no idea what it was about when I started reading it so it was a huge surprise and really good one 😀
Yes! It’s best to go into it knowing nothing!
Tiffany D. Jackson is such an amazing author; so happy to see she’s one of your favorites! What’s your favorite book by her? I’m partial to Monday’s Not Coming. Super pumped for her 2022 release!
Monday’s Not Coming is my favourite too! I read it in 2021 and it blew me away. Even though I know her books will wreck me, I still wasn’t prepared!
I’m so excited too! I love that it is inspired by Carrie.
I can’t exactly claim that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie, but it IS the best adaptation of that material and my favorite version. I was so in love with all of it from the first time I watched it and ever since.
It’s really a perfect adaptation in my mind! I’m tempted to watch it tonight 😂
Do it! Give into the temptation!!
Never Let Me Go! I wish I could read that book again for the first time <3
Same! It’s definitely one of those books.
Great post, apart of your World sounds so good just added it to my TBR. I love the Pride and Prejudice movie though I prefer the BBC adaption 💜
I have Part of Your World from NetGalley, I need to get to it sooner than later! Fun tag Kirstin.
Neverland is such an intriguing setting honestly! And Daughter of the Moon Goddess seriously has the most beautiful cover💜
Love your answers and I am the same with you about the Pride and Prejudice movie. It’s perfection. I still watch it every year, even while I’m blogging lol.
I love how many people agree with me!!
Piranesi it’s a book people either seem to love or hate. I haven’t read it but I’ve read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Took me quite a bit to get into the book but once you’re in, wow. Great book!
I really want to read that one. It’s just so intimidating! I love her writing though.
Just know that it will take about 100 pages or so and maybe more, my memory is sketchy on it – to really get going. The beginning is far too tedious. But once it gets going, it’s really good.
never let me go is such a brilliant book!!
It truly is!
I would love if you guys see my fictional work and give me a tiny support ……
