Summer is officially coming to an end, so I thought it would be fun to look back at my summer TBR and see how I did. I also want to share some stats and my favourite books of the summer.
There were 10 books on my summer TBR, and I managed to read five of them and DNF one. The five I read were The Heart Principle, Redemptor, The Remains of the Day, My Contrary Mary, and Ayesha at Last. I sadly DNFed Accidentally Engaged, which is a book I was really excited about but just could not get into.
In my mind, June, July, and August are the summer months, so I won’t include any of the books I read so far in September when talking about my favourite books of the summer!
I read 36 books this summer for a total of 13,093 pages and an average rating of 4.09, which is amazing!
Summer Favourites

It feels as though I have talked about these eight books so much over the last couple months and I am sure I will continue to feature them! I am realizing that all but one (The Remains of the Day) are 2021 releases… I really do need to start focusing more on my backlist books!

Well done, Kristin💜
My favorites for the summer? I’ve had some great reading but here are a few: three of the books in the DI Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons, Pack Up the Moon by Kristan Higgins and Win by Harlan Coben.
Ohhh I need to read more Harlan Coben! I really did like The Boy From the Woods!
Win is the first book in a new series. He’s a spinoff character from his Myron Bolitar series but you’d enjoy it without that background.
Looks like you had a good reading summer!
I reslly want to read A Psalmfor the Wild-Built, The Jasmine Throne and Redemptor!
I really did! All amazing books and very different!
You’ve done better than me, I’ve only read two books on my summer TBR (though I’ve almost finished a third). My fave was a nautical historical adventure called HMS Expedient.
Interesting! I just looked it up and it sounds like a compelling read.
You did so much better than me, I don’t even think that I managed to read one book that I put on my Summer TBR! I really want to read The Heart Principle and It Happened One Summer as I seem to be on a bit of a romance kick at the moment, so I’m glad to see that you really liked them!
That has definitely happened to me with my TBRs in the past! I find myself on a romance kick quite often!
There were so many! Ace of Spades was definitely great, but also The Good Children by Roopa Farooki, The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochran, The Magnificent Sons by Justin Myers!
The Charm Offensive is high on my list. It sounds so so good!!
Amazing stats!! You’re such a voracious reader and great reviewer
Aw thank you!
My favs of summer were Three Words For Goodbye and Project Hail Mary (audio)
Ah Project Hail Mary was incredible. Definitely one of my favourite books of the year!
Wow 36 books is so good! I read a lot of arcs over the summer and my faves were Under the Whispering Door, Defy the Night, Gilded Cage and Vespertine ❤
I’m on a bit of an ARC kick right now! I really want to read Defy the Night.
Defy was so good, hope you enjoy 😉
The Heart Principle is on my list of favorite books this summer. I would love to read Ace of Spades and It happened one Summer.
I have been recommended The Heart Principle to everyone, even if they haven’t read the first two books!
YES YES YES I loved ace of spades and the jasmine throne too! And Redemptor was of course amazing! I can’t wait to read the heart principle and so glad to hear you enjoyed it!
We have such similar taste! I adored The Heart Principle. It is less romance than the first two books but I thought it was brilliant!
I loved Psalm for the Wild-Built, and I’m looking forward to reading Tasha Suri’s latest. I just finished Under the Whispering Door which was so good. Klara and the Sun was another favorite this summer.
I am so happy that Klara and the Sun was your favourite! I read it early this year and it will definitely be on my favourites list at the end of the year!
I loved The Ones We’re Meant to Find! The others are on my TBR but I’m especially excited for Heart Principle, Jasmine Throne and Ace of Spades! They all look grand 😍
There is something so beautiful about The Ones We’re Meant to Find!
Such a productive summer! I’m looking forward to read A Psalm for the Wild-Built and Ace of Spades, so I’m glad you liked them! 😀
It really was! Both incredible books!
Ace of Spades was definitely a summer favourite and The Heart Principle and Raybearer are on my TBR so I can’t wait to read them!! I read Pet this summer and it took my breath away!
Yes! I read Pet earlier this year and it was fantastic. I’m so excited that we are getting a prequel!
there are so many great books here!! i’m so glad to hear you loved ace of spades and psalm of the wild built. i want to read both by the end of the month, and i’m even more excited for them now!!
They are both fantastic! And I just saw the cover reveal for the sequel to Pslam for the Wild Built and it’s stunning!
ooh that’s so cool!! i starting reading it yesterday, and i’m not too far in but so far it’s AMAZING!
i’m so, so excited for the sequel!!
