Favourite Quotes from the Last Five Books I Read

I have always enjoyed reading book quotes, so I decided that for 2019 I will share my favourite quotes for every five books that I read! These are quotes that stood out to me, but will in no way spoil the book for you.  I hope they give you a sense of what the book is about and the writing style!

The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh

“Anyone can grow into something beautiful.”

“Perhaps the unattached, the unwanted, the unloved, could grow to give love as lushly as anyone else.”

“Do you really think you’re the only human being alive who is unforgivably flawed? Who’s been hurt almost to the point of breaking?”

Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb

By Chance Alone: A Remarkable True Story of Courage and Survival at Auschwitz by Max Eisen

“May G-d bless you and safeguard you. May He be gracious unto you. May He turn His countenance to you and give you peace.”…
Then he said, “If you survive, you must tell the world what happened here. Now go.”‘

“Everything happened swiftly and we had no time to think. I didn’t have an opportunity to speak to my mother-nor did our eyes ever meet-and I wasn’t able to say goodbye to her.”

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

40489648. sy475 “Better to achieve perfect marks on an easy test than flunk a hard one, that was my motto.”

“People do go mad, you know, if you stop them from sleeping for long enough…”

“I am telling you the truth. The unvarnished, ugly truth. And it is all that. It is unpolished and unpleasant, and I don’t pretend I acted like an angel. But I didn’t kill anyone. I just fucking didn’t.”

  1. I love this post, such a great idea! I always wonder what to do with all the quotes that I underline, I even tried creating a journal for them, but that didn’t really go well and I abandoned it after a couple of months 😀

  2. I really enjoyed the quotes of House of Salt and Sorrows!
I didn’t have The Turn of the Key on my TBR, but after reading those quotes and a little bit about it I think I’m going to add it to my October TBR, because it sounds amazing🙂.

  3. “Nights like this were meant to be shared, remembered, and talked about for years. Skies like this were meant to be kissed under.”
These sound like Lorde-esque song lyrics, it paints such a picture!
