Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. I love a book that has an element of magic, but surprisingly I have not read that many! I am so looking forward to seeing everyone’s lists this week and adding a bunch of books to my TBR. I didn’t mention Harry Potter because DUH!
Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore
Are we shocked to see Wild Beauty on another one of my Top 5 Tuesday lists? Probably not! If you are looking for a book that does magical realism well than look no further than Wild Beauty. The magic is subtle but stunning!
The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman
If I had to pick my favourite book with magic I think I would have to choose The Rules of Magic. I love these characters and their relationships with one another, but I also really appreciated the magic. It felt very real and believable.
Macbeth by William Shakespeare
I read Macbeth in high school and it was the one Shakespeare play that I really fell in love with. Lady Macbeth is one of the most memorable and evil characters of all time. I enjoyed the twist of the story having the three witches. They really add to the twisted and creepy vibe of the play!
Matilda by Roald Dahl
I had to include Matilda on my list! I have so much nostalgia for this story, and I remember wishing I had her magic as a kid. She is someone that my younger self was able to relate to. I will always have a soft spot for her!
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
A Great and Terrible Beauty is so atmospheric and is set in a boarding school, which always makes for the perfect backdrop for a story involving magic. It is the perfect blend of mystery, historical and magical! I loved this book when I read it years ago and I really need to continue on with the series.
