There are so many exciting books coming out in 2026 that I thought it would be fun to break them down into some of my favourite genres and give you my top ten in each! Don’t worry- I will continue to make my monthly releases posts/videos! We are starting with contemporary romance because I have been reading a lot of that lately and some of my favourite authors are releasing books this year.

In everyone’s life, there’s a split-second decision that can change everything…
For Larissa, it came when choosing which guy to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she’d met the perfect man. She and Chris are great together, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.
But Chris isn’t the one who drove Larissa home all those months ago—Chris is her boyfriend’s best friend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. And he’s just not that guy.

I am little reluctant because of the tropes in The Night We Met– I love a messy romance but boyfriend’s best friend might be too much for me, we will see. It is Abby Jimenez though so it is impossible for me not to be excited about it and early reviewers are saying she handled the trope well so crossing my fingers! She also covers difficult topics in her romance, so I am curious to see what we are getting into with this one. Look at the adorable yorkie though!

If you’re reading this, I’m dead.

Tensions are high as their undeniable connection reignites, but Dani refuses to let her guard down. As they continue their journey, Micah is determined to prove to Dani that love is worth fighting for, but can she release her fears and relearn the art of loving?
Tropes: Friends to lovers / He falls first / Second-chance romance / Black joy / Forced proximity / Right person, wrong time / Fling to forever

If I was asked to tell you my top five romances, there is a good chance Only for a Week would make the list. It is definitely in the conversation! I hope to reread that before the sequel, The Art of Loving You, comes out in April. It follows side characters from book one and I adored them both and am excited for their romance. I am one of those people who does appreciate a second chance romance and I love the idea of a forced proximity road trip that includes a scavenger hunt? A lot of the reviews are saying it is moving and an emotional rollercoaster that is different from the first one, so I am preparing myself for that!

Best friends have one week in paradise to fix their friendship or fall apart in this heart-stopping, utterly romantic new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Every Summer After and One Golden Summer.
Frankie and George have been best friends since they were eight years old. Both passionate, impulsive, and headstrong—they’ve always clashed . . . and come back together. Until now. It’s the eve of Frankie’s wedding weekend, and she doesn’t know where they stand or even if George will show up as her best man.
Then, at the start of the festivities, in walks George. For one glorious evening, surrounded by her loved ones, Frankie’s life is finally perfect. But it all comes crashing down when her fiancé dumps her the next morning, leaving only a note as an explanation.
Crushed and confused, Frankie returns to her family’s home to wallow. But George has a different idea and a plan for healing Frankie’s broken heart. He wants her to go on her honeymoon. With him. For one week, to the lush rainforests and misty beaches of Tofino.
Frankie agrees, seeing the trip for what it really is: one last chance to repair their friendship. Even if it means unearthing secrets and long buried feelings neither knows how to handle. Even if it means falling apart for good.

I have read everything by Carley Fortune because they are set in Ontario and there is something so nostalgic about them for me. Though they have been hit or miss, her last release, One Golden Summer, was absolutely delightful and has me so excited for Our Perfect Storm. This seems to be her first book not set entirely in Ontario and I do love that she is mixing it up. I need to read more friends to lovers to see if it is a trope that works for me!

You never forget your first love. Isn’t that what they say? Verity Hill knows this truth intimately. She didn’t simply miss Wright “Monk” Bellamy when they parted ways in college. She’s haunted by his touch. Every kiss, any lover since—it’s a shadow of what they had.
Time heals all wounds. Isn’t that what they say? Monk doesn’t believe that for a second. He wasn’t simply betrayed when he and Verity split. He was devastated, with parts of him left behind in the ruins of all that was destroyed.
More than a decade after their disastrous breakup, Verity and Monk must work together on the set of an epic Harlem Renaissance biopic. With Monk, now a world-class musician, creating the score, and Verity, an award-winning screenwriter, penning the script, there’s Oscar buzz before shooting even begins. This once-in-a-lifetime project could catapult them both to new heights, but can they can put the past behind them for the sake of the film…for the sake of something more?

Kennedy Ryan is one of my favourite authors and Reel is my favourite book of hers (that I have read, of course!), so I am thrilled that we are getting a sequel! I definitely want to reread that before I pick up Score because it has been a few years since I read it. I want to really pay attention to Verity and Monk in that book so I am ready for their second chance romance! I love that he is a musician and she is a screenwriter. I have fallen in love with romances that take place on movie sets for some reason.

Love evens the score between two tennis players in this stunning debut romance.
Recently-turned-pro tennis player Austin Hardy has been out since high school and it’s never been a big deal. That is, until he becomes the first openly gay man to compete in a Grand Slam. Suddenly, being gay is a huge deal, with headlines to prove it.
Unprepared for this new spotlight, Austin’s anxiety disorder hits a breaking point, and he trips and falls at practice. Right next to the very attractive, very talented, and probably straight Diego Cruz, ranked World #2.
The two players start a friendship off the court. But between their flirty banter, mixed signals, and brewing rivalry, Austin is thrown further off his game by Diego.
With the eyes of the world on Austin, the weight of history on his shoulders, and Diego across the net — he must decide if love means nothing or if love means everything as he battles for the trophy during an electric two weeks at the US Open.

Sports romances having been having a moment the last few years but they are so hit or miss for me! I have yet to read a tennis romance though and I played for many years so maybe I will connect to this one more. I do appreciate that the nature of a sports romance means that our characters are rivals and that helps with the tension.

In this lush, slow-burning romance, two childhood neighbors, connected by a shared tragedy, unexpectedly reunite to ghostwrite a love story for a reclusive author. Spending the summer at her secluded Hamptons estate, they soon discover that dozens of classic romance tropes, including the ones they’re crafting on page, are mysteriously playing out in real life.
Katie Caruso is a completely normal twenty-five-year-old girl. At least, for the past eight years, she’s tried to be. She likes glitter and sequins and flirting with cute boys at New York City bars. She’s also a ghostwriter for Meredith Bradford, the bestselling romance novelist of all time. But then Tyler McNally walks back into Katie’s life, and that bedazzled facade crumbles at her platform-sneakered feet.
Katie and Tyler haven’t seen or spoken to each other since the overdose death of Katie’s older brother, a standout MLB pitching prospect. Tyler was her brother’s best friend, and Katie—naturally—was the girl next door. But now, Tyler is a sleeve-tattooed, Ivy League-educated aspiring literary fiction novelist, nine years sober . . . and Katie’s writing partner for the summer.
As genre conventions require, Katie and Tyler soon find themselves removed from Manhattan and instead writing their love story in “forced proximity” at Meredith’s isolated Southampton home. As the summer unfolds, the tropes Katie and Tyler have written into their novel begin to play out in their own lives. Call it destiny, fate, or magic It’s clear their love story is unfinished. This time, though, they’ll fight for their happy ending.

I expect Tropesick to have a lot of yearning! I get the impression that it is going to be heavier than a lot of the other books on this list. It seems like it is going to be a love story to the genre. I just looked into Lauren Okie’s debut, which came out last year, and it has incredible reviews so adding that to my TBR and hope to get to it before this comes out in June.

I read the first book in this series, Savor It, last year and absolutely adored it. I received the sequel for Christmas and I know so many people adore it, so the third book, Lost and Found, had to be on this list! I really liked Silas from what we got of him in book one and I am excited for him to have his love story.

A stand-in girlfriend and a handsome business heir find that their fake summer fling is feeling way too real in this new romance by USA Today bestselling author Kristina Forest.
Noelle Lewis doesn’t have time for long walks on the beach, brunch with the girls, or summer vacations. She’s too busy saving up to go back to college. After recently getting laid off from her bookseller job, her main gig is now serving as a “stand-in” bridesmaid, which doesn’t pay enough for the upcoming semester’s tuition. But then the perfect, if not unconventional, opportunity arises…

Can we get some sprayed edges or something for The Summer Girlfriend? This cover is absolutely gorgeous! I cannot believe this is the only fake dating romance on this list because it still is one of my favourites! I cannot wait to read this book with my toes in the sand.

New York Times bestselling author Tia Williams returns with an intensely romantic, deliciously sexy tale about a woman searching for her handsome seatmate on a European flight—and the unexpected places her hunt for love leads her.

Sasha enlists her work friend for help in the search, but when she accidentally emails the entire global company, colleagues around the world begin looking for Seat F, too – with some finding love along the way. I will read anything that Tia Williams puts out and I am surprised I haven’t seen a lot of hype for The Missed Connection yet! I am not so sure about the cover, but the story itself sounds so unique!

The Bear meets It Happened One Summer in this delicious new romance from USA Today bestselling author Grace Reilly, in which a down-on-his-luck chef and a determined social media maven strike a reluctant deal to bring a beloved restaurant back to life.
If you can’t take the heat…get out of the kitchen.
After a public meltdown in the dining room of one of Manhattan’s most elite restaurants, Chef Jack Hartman is back in his South Florida hometown. Angry, grieving, and saddled with the unwanted storefront his late mentor left him, his life is spinning out of control. And that’s before Poppy Winfield, the blond, bubbly, utterly infuriating daughter of his former boss, shows up at his dock.
Poppy needs to escape. From her disapproving family, her horrible ex-boyfriend, and her reputation as someone who has never taken anything seriously. But more than that, she wants to prove herself—and she has just the plan to do it. Unfortunately, that plan involves Jack Hartman, the most arrogant, prickly, intimidating man she’s ever had the pleasure of throwing a shrimp at.
She knows Jack is desperate to come back from his unceremonious firing, so she proposes a deal: working together to open a revamped version of his mentor’s restaurant. He’ll handle the menu, and she’ll use her skill as a social media influencer to sell the hell out of its grand opening. If she and Jack can make the restaurant a success, it’ll be an accomplishment no one can deny—and a ticket for them both to return to New York.
Jack is intrigued, but only on his terms: if Poppy’s going to work for him, she must learn the ropes of the entire business. Including how to cook. From him.
As sparks fly both in and out of the kitchen and tensions reach a boiling point, Poppy and Jack are left wondering–could they be a perfect pairing? Or is this whole experiment a recipe for disaster?

I LOVE cooking shows- I often have them on the TV at night and fall asleep to them, so this romance is perfect for me. It is no secret that I am a lover of foodie romances and we don’t get them as often as we used to. I also love how tongue and cheek Yes, Chef is as a title and the eggplant on the cover really adds to it.
honourable mention: no matter what by cara bastone, the bridge back to you by riss m. neilson, too cold for comfort by nisha j. tuli
