August 2025 Book Releases

There are not many releases coming out in August that I am excited for but there are some gems and any month that includes a new T. Kingfisher is a good one!

August 5th

The Magician of Tiger Castle has some of the classic tropes that I love- a marriage of convenience and a magician who isn’t that great at magic. These tropes lend themselves well to some hilarious moments and I can tell from the synopsis and the cover that this will have some whimsy fairytale vibes.

I looked up some of this author’s illustrations and they are delightful, so I cannot wait to see the drawings throughout this book! Give me all of the revenge stories and I am always up for a book where the main character attempts to destroy an institution from within. The romance in this also sounds unique!

This sounds like my kind of book! I read a lot of book centered around celebrities but not many follow celebrity chefs, so that is a unique take. This sounds like the kind of thriller I would love to devour on the beach (pun intended!).

I think I will be reading this the day it comes out because it is a novella and there are few things I love more than a cozy sci-fi even though they are so hard to find! This sounds adorable. A found family of food service robots? That has me written all over it!

I love the vibes of this cover and I think we will get more and more romances within the virtual world. I think this one will also have some commentary and I am so intrigued by it!

Can you believe I have never read anything by Olivia Dade? I think I will love her! This looks like a fun book to ease into the fall vibes and I hope it is as campy as it seems.

I loved Brigid Kemmerer’s YA horror but haven’t tried her fantasy. Curious to see what she does in the adult space and the set up for this intrigues me.

I love a literary fiction novel that focuses on female rage but I do not read them as often as I would like to. The magical realism/horror elements of this one is what appeals to me and I do appreciate books that explore generational trauma.

Chuck Tingle is another author I have never read from but I just have a feeling I am going to love. His books sound so ridiculous and that is part of the charm!

There are a few of these contemporary romances with a sci-fi twist out there and they all call to me. This just sounds like a silly goofy time and something I can read in an afternoon. Plus, the preorder campaign is beyond adorable!

I am so excited that I have an ALC of Hemlock and Silver and will be starting it ASAP! I do not love Snow White retellings but I trust T. Kingfisher and I like the angle she seems to be taking with this story. These dark fantasy retellings that she tends to release every August just hit for me- no surprise.

I adored The Vampires of El Norte, so I am excited to have something new from Isabel Canas! I think she has a strong voice in this genre and I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

I love cozy mysteries/fantasies and In the Company of Witches is one of my favourites, so I am excited for The Late-Night Witches. I especially love that is set in PEI and that the main character is a mother.

This sounds so adorable and one I would love to read on the beach before the summer is over. Give me all of these mysterious that aren’t quite cozy but not too serious, especially if they follow an eclectic group of characters.

August 26th

I have an eARC of this and it is the next one I will start as soon as I am done Ladies in Hating. This sounds like such a delight and I am always in my vampire era.

Look at the dog on the cover! It has wings- are you kidding? So stinking cute! There seems to be a niche within fantasy of books set in Scotland and so many of them are on my TBR- what is one more?

I know that so many people are excited about this book but I think I am going to wait until I see more reviews. I loved The Poppy War but Babel was not for me, so I am wary. It does sounds really good though!
