Happy October! The amount of books coming out today is overwhelming and I don’t even know where to start!

October 1st

I will always be excited when we get a new book from Nghi Vo, especially when it is a novella! There are few things I enjoy more than a novella from Nghi Vo. I am curious to see what she does with a love story between an angel and a demon but from what I can tell from all the five star reviews on Goodreads I won’t be disappointed.

First of all, the title Fang Fiction is just too clever! The concept of a character falling into the world of their favourite novel is nothing new but this one has vampires and that makes it appeal to me even more. I will say that I had mixed feelings about One to Watch, so I am going into this cautiously optimistic.

I have discovered that Southern Gothic horror is in my wheelhouse, so The Bog Wife appeals to me greatly. You just know that this is going to be incredibly atmospheric and there will be family drama.

I have not read anything by Judy I. Lin but A Magic Steeped in Poison has been on my tbr since before it came out! It is interesting to see that her new series is leaning more into horror and that just intrigues me all the more. That cover is chilling!

Give me all of the witchy cozy fantasies with cats on the cover, please and thank you! So many people have messaged me saying this sounds like a me book and I love you all for understanding me.

I finally read my first book from Rivers Solomon this year and I was blown away by it, as I had been told I would be. I love that they are leaning more into horror with Model Home because it feels like a genre they would excel in. I always appreciate when author’s take a classic trope like a haunted house story and twist it on its head.

I have owned The Bone Houses for years and I love that the author continues to write standalone fantasies in the same world. I love a good “getting the band back together” story.

It is that time of year when we are starting to get all of our holiday romance releases and I am ready for it! I look forward to reading all of the cheesy holiday romances every single year and I think Make the Season Bright will be at the top of my list this year. Looks adorable!

The Darkness Outside Us was such a surprise hit for me and I was satisfied with it being a standalone but I am 100% up for a sequel because I love these characters. I love that it takes place 17 years after the events of book one. Even though I remember so much about the first book, I do think I want to reread it first since it has been years.

October 8th

I saw the cover of A Dark and Secret Magic and I instantly requested it on Netgalley, so I now have an ALC that I am excited to listen to. The fall vibes of this cover are off the charts and I have a feeling reading this will feel like a sitting on porch with a pumpkin spice latte on a cool fall afternoon and those are the vibes I am looking for.

One thing you can expect to get in October are books with cats on the cover and I eat it up! I struggle with time travel at times but if you make it a cozy fantasy I think I can get onboard with it.

C.J. Cooke tends to release a new book every October and I always read them on release day and they always end up being one of my favourite books of the year. I don’t think The Book of Witching will be the exception. It feels like this book was written just for me!

As I said, I love a good Southern Gothic horror and This Cursed House sounds like it falls well within that genre. It also has family secrets, a curse, and the main character has a secret gift she has been running away from. All things that tend to appeal to me!

This cover though! I am excited that we are getting a new series from Freya Marske and I have a feeling this is going to be on the more lighthearted side and it is nice to read a fantasy romance like that every once in awhile.

The Nightmare Before Kissmas sounds absolutely ridiculous but in the best way! Now to open up the debate, is this a Halloween or a Christmas novel?

Told you we were getting all of the holiday romances this month! I’ll Be Gone for Christmas sounds like a sapphic version of the movie The Holiday, which is one of my favourites, so I am extremely excited for this one.

October 15th

I have been told that Sorcery and Small Magics is a slow bur, grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers romance that is also whimsical! Yes, please, I need to read that!

This just sounds like it has the perfect fall vibes! A romance between the daughter of Dracula’s killer and Moriarty’s daughter is something I didn’t know I needed.

Nat Cassidy has quickly become one of my favourite horror authors. I am sad that Rest Stop is under 150 pages but I will take what I can get.

October 22nd

Dark academia with faeries and found family? Sold!

This sounds super unique and I have always been intrigued by the idea of ghost brides.

October 29th

This cover caught my eye immediately! I also read a lot of witchy books but not many of them are horror and I love the sound of that.
