September TBR | The Romance Readathon

I am cohosting The Romance Readathon in September and it is Phantom of the Opera themed! This means I will be focusing on Gothic reads and as a leader of Team Opera House Owners my tropes are billionaire romances and age gap, so I am trying to squeeze a few of those in as well.

I meant to read Evil in Me in August but the month got away from me, so it will be the first book that I read in September. Slewfoot by Brom is one of my favourite horror novels and I have been dying to read something else by him. I like books centered around music, so I am curious to see what he does with this one. It seems very different from Slewfoot but I hope it is a little campy and will work for me. I am not sure it will get me many points for the readathon, but it has been calling to me!

I have an ALC of Immortal Dark from Libro.fm and was so tempted to listen to it in August, but it was too perfect for The Romance Readathon, so I had to save it. I am been hearing amazing buzz for this book and it is vampires, enemies-to-lovers, and dark academia.

I was just sent an ALC of We Came to Welcome and I love the idea of a suburban horror and this cover perfectly encapsulate what I expect from this book. I think we all know how wild HOA’s can be and I am intrigued to see how that is turned into something truly horrific.

I caved and bought Bride because everyone was talking about it when it first came out but it just has not been a priority for me. I have yet to read anything by Ali Hazelwood, so I guess this will be my first. Not sure it is the best place to start, but it is the one that intrigues me the most, so here we are. It is too perfect for the readathon not to put in on my TBR!

Quicksilver seems to be the romantasy of the moment, so I am feeling the fomo! I am also realizing I am super picky about what works for me in this genre but have been told this will probably work for me. It is a bit long to read during a readathon but romantasy tends to read quickly.

I have been wanting to read something by Katherine Addison for ages and I also wanted a couple of novellas for the readathon, so I thought A Theory of Haunting was perfect. You can just tell by this cover that it is a Kristin book. It looks like a perfect book to start the fall season with and I will never get tired of haunted house stories.

I am buddy reading Gold and Shadow and have it downloaded and ready to go from Kindle Unlimited. It is another novella and is a romantasy retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears? That could be really terrible or amazing but I guess I will find out. It is the first book in a series and the second one is out and is a retelling of Snow White.

I heard that one of my team tropes was “billionaire” romances and I knew that I had to finally read The Kingmaker. Kennedy Ryan has quickly become one of my favourite authors and I am so excited to start another series from her.

I am hosting a live show discussion of Cottage Around the Cottage on my YouTube channel at the end of September and this is my pick for my witchy book club, The Black Hat Book Coven. We always have a blast, so if this book is on your radar you must join us!
