Don’t Fear the Reaper is the sequel to My Heart is a Chainsaw, which is a book I bought on release day and have yet to read! I have really enjoyed Stephen Graham Jones in the past, so I am hopeful that I will love the first book and will want to get to the sequel ASAP!

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series, with the first book being Not the Witch You Wed. The first book got mixed reviews, but I had a good time with it. From what I can tell, early reviewers are loving Not Your Ex’s Hexes much more than the first book, which is exciting!

Seven Faceless Saints is the first book in a new YA fantasy series. It is also one of my most anticipated YA releases of the year! The friends to enemies to lovers trope always appeals to me!

First of all, I love any book that has an artist as the main character and secondly, the early reviews for Endpapers have been incredible. I am excited to see how the author explores gender identity.

VenCo is “coven” backwards, and that is enough to capture my attention! I have not come across a lot of fantasy set in Canada, so that is exciting to me as well.

It might be overdone at this point, but I will try any book if it is compared to Mexican Gothic. I have also heard incredible things about Roshani Chokshi’s writing in general, so The Last Take of the Flower Bride is one of my most anticipated releases of the year. This is also the author’s adult debut!
When Camonghne Felix goes through a monumental breakup, culminating in a hospital stay, everything–from her early childhood trauma and mental health to her relationship with mathematics–shows up in the tapestry of her healing. In this exquisite and raw reflection, Felix repossesses herself through the exploration of history she’d left behind, using her childhood “dyscalculia”–a disorder that makes it difficult to learn math–as a metaphor for the consequences of her miscalculations in love. Through reckoning with this breakup and other adult gambles in intimacy, Felix asks the question: Who gets to assert their right to pain?
Dyscalculia negotiates the misalignments of perception and reality, love and harm, and the politics of heartbreak, both romantic and familial.
Dyscalculia is a memoir that is getting incredible reviews but the author has gone through a great deal of trauma, so look for content warnings. Camonghne Felix is a poet and I am sure that shows through in telling her story.
A trans pianist makes a New Year’s resolution on a frozen Wisconsin night to win regionals and win back his ex, but a new boy complicates things in Edward Underhill’s heartfelt debut YA rom-dram, Always the Almost.
Sixteen-year-old trans boy Miles Jacobson has two New Year’s resolutions: 1) win back his ex-boyfriend (and star of the football team) Shane McIntyre, and 2) finally beat his slimy arch-nemesis at the Midwest’s biggest classical piano competition. But that’s not going to be so easy. For one thing, Shane broke up with Miles two weeks after Miles came out as trans, and now Shane’s stubbornly ignoring him, even when they literally bump into each other. Plus, Miles’ new, slightly terrifying piano teacher keeps telling him that he’s playing like he “doesn’t know who he is”—whatever that means.
Then Miles meets the new boy in town, Eric Mendez, a proudly queer cartoonist from Seattle who asks his pronouns, cares about art as much as he does—and makes his stomach flutter. Not what he needs to be focusing on right now. But after Eric and Miles pretend to date so they can score an invite to a couples-only Valentine’s party, the ruse turns real with a kiss, which is also definitely not in the plan. If only Miles could figure out why Eric likes him so much. After all, it’s not like he’s cool or confident or comfortable in his own skin. He’s not even good enough at piano to get his fellow competitors to respect him, especially now, as Miles. Nothing’s ever been as easy for him as for other people—other boys. He’s only ever been almost enough.
So why, when he’s with Eric, does it feel like the only person he’s ever really not been enough for…is himself?
Always the Almost sounds like a sweet YA romance and it has already been getting amazing reviews. I love following characters who are passionate about the arts, so the fact that Miles is a pianist and Eric is a cartoonist really appeals to me!

Stone Cold Fox sounds like it is going to be my kind of messy thriller! I am always drawn to books that have a main character who is a con woman. I don’t know what that says about me!

Best Served Hot is a foodie romance from the same author as Sadie on a Plate! I have read a ton of foodie romances at this point but never from the perspective of food critics. I think that will be a good time!

The Great Believers has been on my TBR for years, but I have heard amazing things about it and I am excited to see something new by the author. I Have Some Questions for You has been getting a lot of buzz and I do tend to enjoy more literary thrillers.

In 2022, I discovered that I love historical fantasy and I have a feeling that The Magician’s Daughter is really going to work for me! The fact that it is set on a magical island that the rest of the world cannot see definitely intrigues me.

I am a simple girl, I see a Greek myth retelling and I add it to my TBR! The Shadow of Perseus definitely sounds interesting and I am curious about all three POVs that we follow.

Liselle Sambury is an author I have been meaning to read from and I think I will start with Delicious Monsters because it is set near me and there are few things I love more than haunted house stories.

I am typically in the mood to read romance in February and I think The Neighbor Favor is one I will pick up! I mean look at the cover- they are passing books back and forth. What more could you want from a romance!?

I have this feeling that Amina al- Sirafi is going to become a favourite character! I love a good bandit and the “get the crew back together” trope!

I am always looking for pirate books that I enjoy because they tend to be few and far between. I have a feeling that The Wicked Bargain might be what I am searching for!

She is a Haunting might have one of my favourite covers of the year! Look at it! I love Gothic horror and that genre tends to work for me in YA as well.

The Crane Husband is a retelling of The Crane Wife, which is a story from Japanese folklore that I am unfamiliar with. This is another horror novella and I have a feeling it is going to be lyrical and haunting.

Time’s Undoing is historical fiction and is inspired by the murder of Cheryl A. Head’s grandfather. I appreciate historical fiction that is told in two timelines and early reviewers are raving about this one.
