Book Unhaul | Preparing for 2023

I want my shelves to reflect my reading taste and I am trying to only keep books I have rated four stars or higher. I also realized that there are a lot of books on my physical TBR that I know I will never get to, either because my reading taste has changed or they have never been a priority. I want to go into the new year knowing that I love every book on my shelves and am excited about every book on my TBR cart! Do you unhaul often?

  1. I’m exactly the same! I have to make sure I’ve got the ones I’m excited about. I’ve found that anything to do with children going missed I can’t read so I’ve given them all away! I’m totally in support of this. X

  2. I recently decided to unhaul a bunch as well. My reasoning, though, is to keep books I really want to read. I just want to free up some space.

  3. I don’t unhaul books nearly often enough, but I usually go through them at least once a year. Planning a big reckoning with my book collection in the new year, for sure.

      1. Yes, I agree! The new year refresh really puts me in the mood to clean up and de clutter so that’s probably why I’m ready to unhaul in January

  4. I go through periods of unhauling, but then I don’t do it again for a while. I did an unhaul not too long ago, so it will probably be some time before I do it again. I have a hard time getting rid of physical books if I haven’t given them a chance, so one of my goals for 2023 is to read more of my backlist so that I can unhaul those physical books on my shelves which I won’t want to keep.

  5. I did an unhaul last year and got rid of 10 books and did the same this year. I’ll probably do small unhauls at the end of each year for the same reason as you, to have the books on my shelf reflect the books I loved.
