The Cozy Autumn Book Tag

Fall is here! This is my time to shine! There is something about this time of year that is motivating and inspiring to me and makes me want to post all of the things. It also makes me excited to do tags again- I used to do the every Thursday and want to get back to doing that. I found this tag on Caro’s blog, Book Cheshire Cat. Caro is one of the first bloggers I ever connected with and it makes me so happy that we are both still posting all these years later! The tag was created by The Book Belle.

1. What book always reminds you of fall/autumn? 🍂

No series is more nostalgic for me than Practical Magic and these books just scream autumn to me. When the leaves change every year, one of my first thoughts is that I should reread the series, but I am so bad at rereading that I inevitably just ending watching the movie, which is such a classic!

2. What is your favourite autumnal book cover? 🍁

Do I even have to explain this one? The cover of Far From the Tree screams fall, even though I don’t consider this a fall read. It is one of my favourite YA contemporaries though and I would highly recommend it!

What is your favourite autumnal drink to read with?

My local coffee shop makes a butter pecan latte and it is my new obsession!

Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning? ☀️

If you had asked me this a few years ago, I would have said at night, but I have become a morning reader. I love starting my day with reading before doing anything else. I feel like it helps me ease into the morning.

Halloween is coming! What is your favourite spooky read? 🎃

I love a spooky book, but these three instantly came to mind! The Lighthouse Witches is a Gothic thriller with vengeful witches and it is amazing. Plain Bad Heroines is one of my favourite books of all time. It is dark academia, sapphic, has ghosts, and you will never look at wasps the same after reading it. Summer Sons continues to haunt me and it follows a character who is looking into his friend’s death and it may or not be paranormal.

6. What is the ultimate comfort read for you? 🤗

This year I discovered the joy of cozy fantasies and they have become my happy place! Legends and Lattes was the book that started me on this journey, and it follows a retired orc barbarian who opens a coffee shop and it is so charming. I just finished Baking Bad and had so much fun! It is a cozy mystery with dragons. T. Kingfisher in general is a comfort author for me, but A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking is my favourite.

7. What is your favourite autumnal reading snack? 🥧

I love all kinds of pies this time of year, but nothing screams fall to me than a classic pumpkin pie!

8. What is your favourite autumnal candle to burn whilst reading? 🕯️

I love Voluspa’s candles and I have stocked up on the spice pumpkin latte scent!

9. When you’re not reading, what is your favourite autumnal activity? 👻

There are a lot of autumnal activities that I love (I am going apple picking tomorrow!) but I live in a mining community and we have a haunted maze down in the mines every year and it is terrifying. I have a love/hate relationship with it but it wouldn’t feel like fall if I didn’t go!

10. What is on your autumn/fall reading list? 📚

I wrote an entire post sharing my fall TBR, but these are my biggest priorities.

  1. Wonderful post that gives me all the autumn feel and I need all of them since I live in Hawaii. lol…no autumn here 😆. A haunted maze sounds terrifying and yet fun if I went with a group of friends. Enjoy Fall!

  2. Great post! I see the book Far From The Tree every time I go time the bookstore. Glad to hear it’s good. Definitely plan on reading it now. My favorite thing about Fall is cooler weather. This whole Summer was like one great heat wave every day, so I am super happy for colder weather!

  3. Love this post! Both the questions and answers. I love fall too, and now that it is here, I find my that I’m in a better mood and mindset already. I’m also ready to snuggle down under a blanket with a candle burning and read a spooky book.

  4. all the covers of the practical magic series LOOK SO FABULOUS TOGETHER??!! ive never heard of the books before, but EXCUSE ME while i go look up the synopsis. BECAUSE THE COVERS OK?? also Baking Bad SOUNDS SO GOOD?? plus the world is severely deprived of dragons AND WE NEED MORE OF THEM. love this post so so much!!

  5. First time commenter here! I found your blog about a month ago, and I have been hooked ever since. I love love love the Practical Magic series. I will definitely reread it some day. I wish they would make all the books into movies! Especially The Rules of Magic.

  6. Glad to hear I could introduce you to this Tag – I loved reading your answers! 🥰 A butter pecan latte honestly sounds so tasty! I haven’t read Legends & Lattes or A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking, but I’d love to read them because they seem so cozy 😊 Babel is also on my autumn reading list!
