Something I noticed while putting this list together is how book covers have evolved through the years! A lot of the books I have read that are over 10 years old have very beige covers…
You will notice that I did not include a lot of classics on this list, but it wouldn’t be an honest list if I did not include Pride and Prejudice.
The Secret History was the first dark academia novel I ever read, so it will always have a special place in my heart. These characters are awful and pretentious and I hate that I love them!
Never Let Me Go is my favourite book of all time, though there are a few other Ishiguro books I could have included on this list. The Remains of the Day, for example.
I have a feeling that The Kite Runner will be on a lot of lists this week, for good reason! This is a book that has withstood the test of time and I think is a modern classic.
Practical Magic is my favourite witchy series and I have so much nostalgia for both the book and the movie!
Quiet is nonfiction and it completely changed my outlook on my introversion. It was a game-changer for me!
The Language of Flowers is one of those books I do not talk about nearly enough! I remember it being popular when it came out but the hype has definitely died down. It is a book I have recommended to a lot of people in my real life.
The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating is one of the most beautiful and moving memoirs I have ever read. The author tells her story of being bedridden and how a snail kept her company. It is wonderful!
84, Charing Cross Road is a must-read for book lovers! I love reading the letters that were shared between a woman in New York and a bookseller in the UK.
Can you believe that The Song of Achilles came out over ten years ago? This book has incredible staying power!

I still have Quiet on my TBR and I’ve heard so many good things about it but NF intimidates me so much 😂 I also had P&P, Achilles, and Kite Runner on my list today. All favourites for sure and no list of mine would also ever be complete without the mention of Austen 😍 Great list!

Yup, you’re right! I have seen The Kite Runner on a lot of lists this week, too. Song of Achilles was another popular pick this week! Though I saw Pride & Prejudice on a lot fewer lists than I had expected.
After your comment abut beige covers, I had to look back at the list I picked to see what the dominant colors was in mine… and I’m surprised to say it was orange. There was a bunch of beige too, but lots more orange than I expected. 😉

I also love Never Let Me Go and Pride and Prejudice, and remember finding The Kite Runner to be really moving. The Secret History has been on my TBR for ages and I cannot believe I still haven’t gotten around to reading it!
I think The Secret History is definitely a book you need to be in the mood for, so I get that!!

I recently saw The Kite Runner on stage on Broadway, and it was such an intense but beautiful story, I’m curious to read the book now!
And I cannot believe The Song of Achilles and I have yet to read it! LOL
