“Afternoon Tea” Book Tag

I found this tag from Fi’s Bibliofiles and it was originally created by The Incessant Bookworm. I appreciate an Afternoon Tea and I thought that these questions were fun!

I was looking through my Goodreads and it has been a minute since I read a book that I felt like I needed to savour. I am currently reading Malice by John Gwynne and I am feeling that a little bit, but the last book I remember truly devouring was If We Were Villains. I think that is the nature of dark academia- you want to take in every word and get engrossed in the atmosphere.

I am generally not one for self-help, so I was skeptical about Maybe You Should Talk to Someone. I am so happy that I gave it a chance because I found it helpful and I was pleasantly surprised to find it reads much more like a memoir. It is a book I have recommended to many people in my life struggling with their mental health to highlight how beneficial therapy can be. I truly think everyone should have a copy of this book on their shelves.

At 176 pages, What Moves the Dead is a novella, so that makes it perfect for a one-sitting read. However, the story itself is so propulsive and creepy- I didn’t want to put it down! I highly recommend the audiobook because the narrator did a fantastic job in bringing the story to life.

I have noticed that many of the romances I read have some heavier themes, and The Bodyguard is no exception. However, I would call this book a rom-com- there are definitely some laugh-out-loud moments. There is a lot of great chemistry between our lead characters and I just had so much fun with this book.

I know that I need to stop talking about You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty, but there is just no better answer to this question! I went into this book already loving Akwaeke Emezi, but somehow this book surprised all of my expectations. It is a book that I read months ago and it still hasn’t left me!

I couldn’t stop myself!
