T. Kingfisher is having a moment right now and I am loving it! I have read and loved both of her 2022 releases, so I cannot wait to explore her backlist. She writes a lot of novella, which is perfect for a readathon.
Most Anticipated/Self-Published Book
You get 20 bonus points if you read the book that you declare to be your most anticipated book of the readathon and mine is The Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking, which also works for the prompt to read one of T. Kingfisher’s indie/self-published works. This book has come highly recommended by my friend Kristen because she knows how much I love food descriptions in fiction! This follows a character whose familiar is a sourdough start- how fun does that sound!?
Standalone
The Twisted Ones is the only book on my TBR that I physically own- I will be listening to all the others on Scribd or grabbing the ebooks from my library. Of all of the books on my list, this one has the lowest rating on Goodreads and it is also the longest book on my TBR, but I still have a good feeling about it. I am curious to dive further into T. Kingfisher’s horror.
A Book in One of Her Series
I have heard amazing things about all of T. Kingfisher’s series, so I had no idea where to start. That is why I consulted the internet and the consensus seems to be that Clockwork Boys is the right choice. I know pretty much nothing about this, but I am curious!
Fairytale Retelling
Bryony and Roses is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which is interesting because I historically haven’t loved Beauty and the Beast retellings, but I am curious to see what T. Kingfisher does with it!
Novella/Short Story Collection
I saw the armadillo on the cover of Minor Mage and I knew that I had to include it on my TBR! This is a novella following a mage who isn’t great at magic and is allergic to armadillos. That sounds like a good time to me!
