This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is about our most anticipated books for the second half of 2022, but I share my most anticipated releases every month and don’t want to bore you by repeating myself. So, I thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek into some of the 2023 releases I am excited about. FYI, my 2023 shelf on Goodreads is currently sitting at 60 books…
Manslaughter Park is the third book in the Jane Austen Murder Mysteries series. I have had such a great time with the first two and I am curious to see what Tirzah Price does with Mansfield Park and its characters.
How to Sell a Haunted House was supposed to come out this summer but the release date has been pushed back to January 17th, 2023. Grady Hendrix has been hit or miss for me, but when his books hit they are some of my favourites. I love a good haunted house story, so I am eager to see what Hendrix does. That said, it does feel weird to have a Grady Hendrix novel coming out in the winter. His books scream summer to me!
Look at the cover for The Fraud Squad! It is just too good! It also releases on January 17th, so that is shaping up to be a huge release day. It is set in Singapore and follows a working-class woman who somehow finds herself infiltrating high society. That sounds like my vibe!
Not Your Ex’s Hexes is the second book in the Supernatural Singles, with the first book being Not the Witch You Wed. The first book really took me by surprise and I had a blast with it. I really enjoy the world that April Asher has built and I am excited to have more romances set in this world.
I think the cover for The Witch and the Vampire is one of the most striking covers that I have ever seen! It is a queer Rapunzel retelling following a witch and a vampire making their way through a cursed forest.
My Dear Henry is another book in that series of classic novels that are being remixed into YA novels written by popular authors. This is a Jekyll and Hyde retelling and I have liked a book from Kalynn Bayron in the past. I just love these remixes!
I love the tagline for Where Darkness Blooms– “The Flowers See Everything”. That, along with the cover, is chilling!
Seven Faceless Saints is the first in a dark fantasy series and there is also a murder mystery element. All I know is that it is queer and that it is childhood friends to enemies to lovers. I need it now!
I am picky when it comes to YA contemporary, but Where You See Yourself sounds like it will be perfect for me. We need more books with disability representation!
Delicious Monsters is said to be a mix of The Haunting of Hill House and Sadie and it is set in Northern Ontario, where I live. As I said earlier, I am always drawn to a haunted house story.

I’m surprised I don’t know about more 2023 releases yet, I don’t know if authors or publishers just don’t want to commit to dates yet because things keep changing. However I do really want to read Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo and A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon next year.
I think that is definitely part of it. Release dates are changing all the time!

Ooh, I’ll have to look into My Dear Henry (and the rest of the classic remixes… I’ve forgotten to keep up with those). I’m looking forward to the next Wayward Children book by Seanan McGuire which is due in January for sure!

I really like Grady Hendrix’s work but I’d forgotten about the haunted house book. I’m excited! I met him in November at a book festival and he was really nice. I usually clam up at book signings but I was chatting away with him for a couple of minutes.

The Jane Austen Murder Mysteries series sounds really intriguing
They are really fun reads! The author does a treat job of writing a new story while having the original characters stay true to themselves.
