WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answer the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

I am reading Voyage of the Basilisk, which the is the third book in the Memoirs of Lady Trent series. I’m about halfway through and it is very much a similar vibe to the first two, but this one seems to have more dragons! Our liveshow where we discuss this book with be on Sunday, May 1st!

Just Finished

I read Her Name is Knight for the Assassins in April Readathon and it is a difficult book to talk about. There are content warnings at the start of the book, and I definitely recommend reading those. A lot of the plot centers around human trafficking and this happens on page. It’s hard to read. I did think it was well handled and I will be reading the sequel. I thought the way it was told was effective, with the “before” chapters written in first person and the “after” chapters written in second person.

I didn’t know that I needed a Goblin Market retelling, but I guess I did. I loved Not Good for Maidens! It’s so atmospheric and creepy. I will never hear Scarborough fair in the same way again! I also loved the focus on sisterhood.

Other Words For Home is one of the books for my 12 Challenge and I’m so glad that it was included. It is a middle grade written in verse and I read it in one sitting. It was heartbreaking and bittersweet, and it felt very authentic.

Starting Next

I meant to read The Night Shift last week, but then I remember that I had to read Voyage of the Basilisk! I’m in a thriller mood, so I definitely hope to get to this next.
