Stacking the Shelves (#2)

Stacking The Shelves (hosted by Reading Reality) is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

Starting with the two physical ARCs I received recently- both nonfiction. The author of The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale reached out to me on Instagram to ask if I would be interested in reviewing the book. I was instantly intrigued by the title and the whole premise, so of course, I agreed. So thank you to Haley McGee and Doubleday Canada for sending me a copy. I love that McGee was in debt and her solution was to sell gifts from her ex-boyfriend but this leads her on a journey where she interviews her exes for this book!

St. Martin’s Press sent me an ARC of Heiresses: The Lives of the Million Dollar Babies by Laura Thomspon and I am so excited about it. I have always been fascinated by the lives of heiresses and I appreciated that Thompson highlights the good and the bad of that world. She tells the stories of real heiresses, from one who was arrested for terrorism to another who played a role in the civil rights movement.

Next up are the audiobooks that I purchased/downloaded recently! I just finished the audiobook for The Psalm of Storms and Silence, which I downloaded on Scribd. I am thrilled that I finished this YA fantasy duology and I thought it was a strong finale. I adore these characters and the world is fascinating. I actually got emotional at one point, which I was not expecting! Also, Bahni Turpin is one of the narrators, and that alone makes this series worth listening to.

I have been on a bit of a nonfiction kick lately, and I also want to do the Buzzwordathon this year(more info here!), so I downloaded Why We Sleep from Scribd. The buzzword for this month is “A book with one of the 5 W’s in the title”, so this book is perfect for that. I have also heard great things about it and I am curious to know more about the importance of sleep.

I used an audible credit for Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake. There are a lot of reasons for this! One- I adore Alexis Hall. Two- Valentine’s Day is coming and I want to read all the romance. Three- I am putting together a post about romances with food, and this one looks perfect!

And finally, we have the eARCs I have been approved for recently! I am currently reading Extasia by Claire Legrand and I am taking my time with it because it is a lot! It’s really good so far though! HarperCollins Canada sent me an ARC after their Winter Preview- it was one of the books I was most excited to read. I am always open to reading cult books!

The other book that HarperCollins Canada sent me was Only A Monster, which I am thrilled about. It is one of my most anticipated books of the year and I cannot wait to read it!

I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed In Five Years, so I screamed when I was approved for One Italian Summer! I love the magical twists that Rebecca Serle adds to her books and I am always here for an Italian setting!

I was thrilled to be approved for an eARC of Fake It Till You Bake It, especially since I am working on the romance and food post! How adorable is that cover? That tagline though- Love mixes perfectly with sugar and flour.
