New Year Book Tag

Happy New Year everyone! What a year 2021 has been. It has been a long two years and who knows what 2022 will bring us, but I just want to tell you how much I appreciate all of you. I think having this blog and the book community, in general, has been great for me during the pandemic. So thank you for supporting me and for always being open to gushing or ranting about books with me!

1. How many books are you planning to read in 2022?

This number never changes! I always keep my Goodreads goal to 52 books, which is one book a week. I have always more than doubled this number, but reading is not a competition and I don’t want to put any pressure on myself. Plus, we never know what the year will bring, and I am hoping to focus on quality over quantity in 2022!

2. Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this past year but want to make a priority in 2021.

There were so many! I made an entire post about all of 2021 releases I wanted to read but didn’t get to. Firekeeper’s Daughter is #1. I know I am going to love it and can’t believe I haven’t read it. A Marvellous Light, Still Life, Winter’s Orbit, and The Apollo Murders are a high priority for next year!

3. What genre do you want to read more of?

My go-to answer for this is always SciFi and horror, but I think I read quite a few of those books in 2021. I am starting to discover what I love in both SciFi and horror, and it has been so much fun for me!

Something I would love to get back into is literary fiction. Some of my favourite books of all time are literary fiction and I know that I have some incredible books within the genre on my TBR shelf. I just don’t think I have been in the headspace for them over the last couple of years, but I would love to prioritize them in 2022.

I would also like to fall in love with historical fiction again. It used to be my favourite genre, but I have really moved away from it since I started blogging.

5. What’s a book you have had forever and are determined to read?

This is so embarrassing because it is the same answer as last year… American Gods (but I used a different cover to mix things up)! What is stopping me from reading it!?

6. One word that you’re hoping 2022 will be.

I wasn’t sure what word to choose for this year, so I took a quiz on Buzzfeed, and the word I got was Relaxing. I will take that!

  1. Happy new year!! I hope 2022 will be everything you want it to be, mostly relaxing 😉
Also hope you’ll get to nurture some plant babies <3 ever since I moved, I managed to not kill 6 plants and am getting 2 more for new year's haha

      1. It’s all about getting plants that don’t need to be watered a lot and then finding a good spot for them where they get sun, but not too much haha and warmth, but not too much.

      2. If it’s any consolation, my mom loves plants! She has her own garden, which thrives, but at her apartment, plants just keep on dying, no matter what she does haha it’s a weird thing! But I’m sure you’ll find something that will work for you. Maybe a Peace Lily? Just minimally watering it once a week works well. Or succulents? Watering them once a month haha

  2. Happy New Year! I love that you keep your goal at 52, you’re right that its not a competition and its better to have something that doesn’t put pressure on you~

  3. Great post and Happy New Year! There are so many books that I hope to read in the new year such as Looking For Alaska, the third book in the YOU series, and One Of Us Is Lying. I haven’t read American Gods, but I did see the first season of the TV adaptation.

      1. I thought the sequel was really good. Definitely worth reading for sure if you liked the first book! The TV adaptation is also really great as well. Although, Season 3 felt like a bit of a mess, lol, but totally still worth watching if you like the books.
