Happy New Year everyone! What a year 2021 has been. It has been a long two years and who knows what 2022 will bring us, but I just want to tell you how much I appreciate all of you. I think having this blog and the book community, in general, has been great for me during the pandemic. So thank you for supporting me and for always being open to gushing or ranting about books with me!
1. How many books are you planning to read in 2022?
This number never changes! I always keep my Goodreads goal to 52 books, which is one book a week. I have always more than doubled this number, but reading is not a competition and I don’t want to put any pressure on myself. Plus, we never know what the year will bring, and I am hoping to focus on quality over quantity in 2022!
2. Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this past year but want to make a priority in 2021.

There were so many! I made an entire post about all of 2021 releases I wanted to read but didn’t get to. Firekeeper’s Daughter is #1. I know I am going to love it and can’t believe I haven’t read it. A Marvellous Light, Still Life, Winter’s Orbit, and The Apollo Murders are a high priority for next year!
3. What genre do you want to read more of?
My go-to answer for this is always SciFi and horror, but I think I read quite a few of those books in 2021. I am starting to discover what I love in both SciFi and horror, and it has been so much fun for me!
Something I would love to get back into is literary fiction. Some of my favourite books of all time are literary fiction and I know that I have some incredible books within the genre on my TBR shelf. I just don’t think I have been in the headspace for them over the last couple of years, but I would love to prioritize them in 2022.
I would also like to fall in love with historical fiction again. It used to be my favourite genre, but I have really moved away from it since I started blogging.
4. Name 3 not-related-to-book goals for 2022.
Continue to learn new things (especially SEO)
Keep a plant alive!!!
5. What’s a book you have had forever and are determined to read?

This is so embarrassing because it is the same answer as last year… American Gods (but I used a different cover to mix things up)! What is stopping me from reading it!?
6. One word that you’re hoping 2022 will be.

I wasn’t sure what word to choose for this year, so I took a quiz on Buzzfeed, and the word I got was Relaxing. I will take that!

Happy new year!! I hope 2022 will be everything you want it to be, mostly relaxing 😉
Also hope you’ll get to nurture some plant babies <3 ever since I moved, I managed to not kill 6 plants and am getting 2 more for new year's haha
I hope the same for you!
I love that! I hope I have 6 alive plants by the end of 2022 😂
It’s all about getting plants that don’t need to be watered a lot and then finding a good spot for them where they get sun, but not too much haha and warmth, but not too much.
Hahaha is the not too much that throws me off😂
If it’s any consolation, my mom loves plants! She has her own garden, which thrives, but at her apartment, plants just keep on dying, no matter what she does haha it’s a weird thing! But I’m sure you’ll find something that will work for you. Maybe a Peace Lily? Just minimally watering it once a week works well. Or succulents? Watering them once a month haha
Happy New Year! I love that you keep your goal at 52, you’re right that its not a competition and its better to have something that doesn’t put pressure on you~
Happy New Year! I completely agree! It works best for me!
YES I really want to read The Apollo Murders too! Last time I went to B&N, they had run out of copies. Tragic
Ahh that is tragic! But great for Chris Hadfield! I hope you track down a copy soon.
Happy New Year! Great tag, I have Still Life on my reading list for this year too, hope you enjoy it 😊
Happy New Year! I hope we both love Still Life!
My Goodreads Goal is always 50. I feel it’s the just right for me number of books.
I love that! I understand why some people want to challenge themselves, but I like to keep my goal manageable!
Happy New Year 🥂 Keeping a plant alive is a goal I always go for….and never succeed at!!! 💜
Happy new year! I relate so much! I need to do some research and get a low maintenance plant!
Happy new year I hope you have a great year and hope I do too *crazy face emoji*
Happy New Year, Kristin! 🎊
I got the word relaxing too, curious as to how that will play out for me this year but I’ll go with it! 😄
Happy New Year!
Same! I’ll take it but I have my doubts!
Firekeeper’s Daughter was one of my top 2022 reads. I hope you love it!
I’m halfway through it right now and it’s incredible. Cried already!
Great post and Happy New Year! There are so many books that I hope to read in the new year such as Looking For Alaska, the third book in the YOU series, and One Of Us Is Lying. I haven’t read American Gods, but I did see the first season of the TV adaptation.
Happy New Year! Is the You series worth continuing? I have only read the first one but I really liked it!
I thought the sequel was really good. Definitely worth reading for sure if you liked the first book! The TV adaptation is also really great as well. Although, Season 3 felt like a bit of a mess, lol, but totally still worth watching if you like the books.
Hope you are having a great new year so far. I took the same buzzfeed quiz twice and got relaxing both times.
keeping plants alive is challenging, but so is children….lol.
here is my tag: https://blessedmommysc.blogspot.com/2022/01/tag-thursday-new-years-book-tag.html
I am! I hope the same for you!
Everyone I know who has taken the quiz has gotten relaxing! The fix is in 😂
maybe we all just need to chill the heck out…lol
