Blogmas (Day Six) | The Christmas Carol Book Tag

Scarlett from They Never Learn is one of those characters who I have complicated feelings about. She is the main character and in so many ways I get her and kind of love her, though she does terrible things. I think that is what makes this book so amazing. You find yourself so conflicted and it has you questioning where you stand. I loved every second of it and Scarlett is someone I won’t soon forget.

There are quite a few books that I would be thrilled to find under my tree, but Lore Olympus is at the top of my list. I have heard great things about this webtoon and the illustrations are stunning. I would love for this to be the last book I read in 2021!

So many of the characters that I love have overcome incredible obstacles. I think that is often at the heart of many stories. However, Anna from The Heart Principle was who instantly came to my mind. She overcomes so much, both from within and from people in her life. Her journey toward finding her voice is what made this book memorable for me.

I adore Finlay Donovan, but let’s be honest, I don’t think she will be making the nice list this year.

I just finished Window Shopping and Aiden is one of the biggest cinnamon rolls I have ever read. I love his positivity and everything about him embodies the Christmas spirit and he would be on top of the nice list!

I hate to do this to you all because Part of Your World does not come out until April of next year, but it is the perfect book for this prompt! My heart was melting the entire time I read it. There is something about Abby Jimenez’s romances that just hit me in a different way, and I think Part of Your World is my favourite of hers!

Certain Dark Things is not my favourite book set in a different country, but it is definitely a more recent favourite. It is a vampire story set in Mexico and I thought it did some interesting things. I also really love Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s writing!

There are so many! I have been reading a ton of festive reads lately, but Faking Under the Mistletoe is my go-to recommendation because it feels the most Christmasy of all of the holiday romances I have read over the last few years. It is also the epitome of the grumpy/sunshine trope!

I would love to go on a sleigh ride with Brendan from It Happened One Summer, but I actually think spending the holidays in the small town where the story is set would be amazing. The book is set during the summer and it is very much a summer town, but I think it would be so cozy during the holidays. I also just love the cast of characters!

Anyone who is a fan of nonfiction has to try Empire of Pain. Patrick Radden Keefe has done a ton of research into the Sackler family and presents it in a way that is accessible and informative. It really digs deep into their role in the opioid crisis and I learned a ton. It is also really good on audio!
