End of the Year Book Tag

I do this tag every year, so I have to continue with the tradition!

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I have plans to continue to listen to the audiobook for Empire of Pain this weekend for Nonfiction November! I started it in August and was enjoying it, but I got distracted by other things, as often happens.

I actually did a Try a Chapter tag a couple months ago to help me choose my next read and The Night Watchman won. I was loving it, but then my cat got sick and I haven’t pick it up since. I would love to finish it before the end of the year because I have a feeling it will become a new favourite and I want to explore more of the author’s backlist.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

In my head, it is almost Christmas and I am getting ready for all of my holiday reading, but I would love to read The Thursday Murder Club first. This mystery has been getting a lot of buzz lately and I just grabbed myself a copy. It revolves around a murder that takes place at retirement village and it just sounds like a good time!

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

All of Us Villains actually releases on Tuesday, and the more that I hear about it the more I want to read it. I love books with morally grey characters!

I have never read anything by Shea Ernshaw, but I have always meant to! There is something about the cover for A History of Wild Places that speaks to me. The early reviews have been amazing and many people are saying it is best to go into it blind, so that is what I plan to do!

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

I adore Chris Hadfield and I am excited to read his first novel, The Apollo Murders! I have heard incredible things and I am so in the mood for some stellar SciFi.

I am actually in the middle of the eARC for The Keeper of Night and I am really enjoying it so far. I have been distracted by nonfiction lately because of Nonfiction November, but I don’t want to neglect this book because it is really interesting!

The Golem and the Jinni has been on my TBR for years! I finally read the first chapter and I am definitely intrigued. I think it will be the perfect book to start off my winter reading!

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

I have a feeling that I will fall in love with Octavia E. Butler’s writing. I have been saving Parable of the Sower because I just know I am going to love it and I am not ready! Does anyone else do that?!

I also have been thinking about some goals I have in terms of reading for 2022, but I will share those in a seperate post closer to the end of the year!
