Finally Fall Book Tag

This is my third year doing the Finally Fall book tag, so it is tradition at this point! I used to do tags weekly but have fallen out of the habit. I am hoping to post more, especially since there are so many fall/Halloween tags that I adore!

In fall, the air is crisp and clear: Name a book with a vivid setting!

There is so much to love about Hold Back the Tide, but it is the atmosphere that really stand out to me. I feel like you can tell by the cover alone how important the setting is to the story. I love any book set on an island or near the water, especially if it is a thriller or a horror.

Nature is beautiful…but also dying: Name a book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief.

Claire Fuller is one of my favourite authors and there is something about her writing that I connect with, but all of her novels are definitely heavy and deal with difficult topics. Unsettled Ground was actually shortlisted for The Women’s Prize this year and it centers around adult siblings who lose their mother and have never lived on their own.

Fall is back to school season: Share a non-fiction book that taught you something new.

I am slowly making my way through Empire of Pain and I think it is incredibly written and well researched. I am learning so much about the Sackler family and their history and role in the opioid crisis. I am definitely taking my time with it but I am taking a lot from it as well!

In order to keep warm, it’s good to spend some time with the people we love: Name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you’d like to be a part of.

Raybearer has my favourite friend group in fiction! I love when friends become family and that is more than true in this duology!

The colourful leaves are piling up on the ground: Show us a pile of fall-colored spines!

Fall is the perfect time for some storytelling by the fireside: Share a book wherein somebody is telling a story.

The Remains of the Day seems to be a simply story on the surface about a butler telling you his life story, but it is so much deeper than that. I just adore everything that Kazuo Ishiguro does!

The nights are getting darker: Share a dark, creepy read.

I read Summer Sons a couple weeks ago and I cannot stop thinking about it! It is going to haunt me for a long time.

The days are getting colder: Name a short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day.

Battle Royal is a pure delight! If you love The Great British Bake Off and great banter, you need to check this book out. It gave me all the feels that GBBO does and I cannot wait for the next book.

Fall returns every year: Name an old favourite that you’d like to return to soon.

I will be rereading Magic Lessons in October in anticipation of the final book! This series has a special place in my heart and I would love to reread the entire thing at some point.

I think a lot of us have really been thinking about support local and small businesses over the last year and I have found a local candle company who I absolutely adore. They do ship in Canada and their scents are spot on. The company is called Lake Life Cozy Co. and they just released their autumn scents. This steaming chai pumpkin pie one is perfection!

I absolutely love ASMR rooms in the fall and no one does them quite like the channel Autumn Cozy. This is their newest video and look how calming it is! The perfect video to listen to while reading.
