The “Count to 10 With Me” Book Tag

It has been awhile since I have done a book tag and I loved this one that I found on Jessica’s blog. The Awkward Book Blogger. This tag was originally created by Alyce @ The Bumbling Blogger.

1. first book in a series

I just read A Psalm for the Wild-Built and I adored it, as I knew I would. I am terrible about completing series, but I am always drawn to ones made up of novellas. I especially love Becky Chambers’ novellas- To Be Taught, If Fortunate is a personal favourite. A Psalm for the Wild-Built was the perfect introduction to a really unique series and I cannot wait to see where it goes!

2. two or more copies of the same book

Raybearer is not only one of my favourite books, it also has some of my favourite covers! As stunning as the US cover is, I could not resist the UK especially, especially since I love the book itself so much. The US and UK covers for the sequel, Redemptor, are just as stunning! Illumicrate also has special editions of both books and I am trying to resist…

3. three colors on the cover

I think part of what makes the cover for The Final Girl Support Group so striking is the use of colour! I love the way that the red pops on the black and how some of the red bleeds into the white lettering. It really is eye-catching and I cannot wait to read the book- I love Grady Hendrix!

4. four or more perspectives

I am pretty sure A Dark and Hollow Star has at least four perspectives… maybe even five?! Either way, it is a great book and one I need to talk about more often. The sequel, A Cruel and Fated Light, cannot be here soon enough!

5. a five star read

The Jasmine Throne is one of my more recent five star reads and one I cannot stop think about. What I love so much is that it is so out of my comfort zone and just proves to me that I can love high fantasy!

6. six or more short stories

There are 11 stories in Florida, and I thought each of them was intriguing and incredibly atmospheric. This was my first and only experience with Lauren Groff’s writing and I have been meaning to pick up one of her full length novels ever since I read this collection last summer.

7. a seven on the cover or the spine

I know that this is the obvious choice, but how could I not choose The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo??

8. eight letters in the title

Yay! Another chance to talk about Blackout! Some of my favourite authors contributed to this collection and I loved how each of the stories came together. I had so much fun with this book!

9. book ends on a page ending with a nine

Why was this so hard!? I had to look through so many books to find one that ended in a 9! Oona Out of Order is 339 pages and I loved each one of them. A great book!

10. ten books in a series

I don’t know of a series that is exactly ten books, but I have started one that is currently at 17 and I think is still ongoing. I thought that Still Life, the first book in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series, was well done and I liked the setting and the characters. I am not sure I will every get through all of the books, but I do have the first five, so I hope to get to them soon!
