What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

Gods & Monsters is the third and final book in the Serpent & Dove trilogy. I have read each of the books with the same buddy read group on Instagram and it has been a blast. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed Serpent & Dove, but I found myself very disappointed by Blood & Honey. I have more realistic expectations for this final book and so far, so good. I am so curious to see how Mahurin is going to wrap this series up, but I am more excited for the discussion on Instagram. We have read a book together every month for years now, but we have had so much fun with this series in particular.

I read about 70 pages of Fireborne on the beach yesterday and it is really fun so far! It falls into a lot of the fantasy tropes, but no complaints from me so far. I love that there is a competition involving dragons, the history of the world is interesting, and I am already connected to our two main characters, Lee and Annie. I also love that it is a duology!

Just Finished

Kazuo Ishiguro can do no wrong! I was not sure if I would enjoy The Remains of the Day as much as I loved both Never Let Me Go and Klara and the Sun, as this this book does not have the Sci-Fi elements that those two books do. I did not need to worry! What I love about Ishiguro is how he shines a light on humanity and that theme was definitely present in The Remains of the Day. This is a quieter book and more a slice of life kind of story, but I really enjoyed it quite a bit. It won’t be for everyone though, because it is slow and not a lot really happens!

I absolutely loved both Normal People and Conversations With Friends, so I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was when I found out that Beautiful World, Where Are You was one of the ALC sent by Libro.fm this month. Of course I dropped everything and listened to it right away! Now that I have finished it, I am not sure what to think. I thought it had some interesting things to say, but I guess I didn’t relate to this one as much. I am still ruminating on my feelings, but I don’t think it will be as memorable for me as her first two novels.

Starting Next

I am finally going to read Accidentally Engaged! I have been saving it to read on the beach and I cannot wait. Give me all the romances with fake dating and where one of the characters is a chef/baker!
