My Summer TBR

How is it almost summer already? Summer is usually when I get my best reading done, and I can tell that will be true this year as well! I am flying through books this month, and I am loving every second of it.

There are a lot of books I would love to read this summer, both backlist and new releases, and not all of them will be on this list!

Do these covers not scream summer!? I cannot wait to read this cozy mystery series by the pool or one the beach, maybe while eating an ice cream cone. There is something about cozy mysteries that seem like the perfect summer reads. I also love the cat on the covers! I have a feeling I am going to have a lot of fun with these.

The Heart Principle doesn’t come out until August 31st, but that is still summer and it is one of my most anticipated books of the year! It feels as though I have been waiting for it for ages. The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test are two of my favourite romances and this third book follows one of my favourite characters. I cannot wait for Quan’s love story!

Redemptor is another August release, and one I have countdown on my phone for! I would actually love to read the first book, Raybearer, before the sequel comes out. I know I haven’t been quiet about my love for Raybearer, so don’t be surprised to see me gushing about this one as soon as I get my hand on a copy!

I have had Accidentally Engaged for awhile now but have been saving it for the summer. I just picture myself reading it outside in the sun! I have this feeling I am going to adore it. It has so many of the romance tropes that I love- it is fake dating and there is a food competition! What more could I ask for!?

I recently read The Bone Witch and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The magic is fascinating to me and the first book was really a set up for the rest of the series. It ended in quite a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what happens!

I read and loved Jade City earlier this year and I refuse to let years go by before I read the sequel, which is normally my pattern. Especially since the third and final book, Jade Legacy, is supposed to be released at the end of the year! I need to be back in this world and to see what happens to these characters.

Book Cover

I feel as though I have put Blonde on so many of my TBRs! I really do want to read it. Marilyn Monroe and I share a birthday and I have always been drawn to her. Plus there is a movie adaptation and I have wanted to read something by Joyce Carol Oates!

Book Cover

Kazuo Ishiguro wrote two of my favourite books of all time, Never Let Me Go and Klara and the Sun, so of course I want to read everything he has ever written. I do own The Remains of the Day and I have heard incredible things about it!

Book Cover

I recently purchased Uzma Jalaluddin’s newest release, but I would really love to read her debut first! I have owned Ayesha at Last since it came out and it is a Pride and Prejudice retelling set in Toronto. I really should have read this by now! Seems like a perfect book for summer though.

Book Cover

I will actually be reading My Contrary Mary for my monthly buddy read on Instagram! I absolutely loved My Lady Jane, but, typical me, I never continued on with the series. That said, I am so excited to see what this author trio does with famous Marys! This first book follows Mary Queen of Scots, who I adore!

I have plans to read more than this during the next few months, but these are the books I hope to prioritize! What are some books you hope to read this summer?

You can find these books in my Amazon Storefront or my Bookshop.org Shop. I do receive a small commission if you purchase one of these books using my link!

  3. This looks like a great mix of reading, you’ve got fun, dark, and classic. I loved Ayesha at Last, so I hope you like it. I’ve heard great things about Raybearer and The Bone Witch sounds very good.
