First Lines From the Last Ten Books I Read

Advertisements

Today’s TTT topic is about sharing the last ten books you read, but since I just posted my April wrap up, I thought that it would be repetitive. I figured I would twist this a little and share the first lines from the last ten books I read- I am always curious about the first line of a book!

Save Me the Plums

I was eight years old when I first found the magazine, sitting on the dusty wooden floor of a used-book store.

Life’s Too Short

Wailing. Banshee, demon-baby wailing from the apartment next to mine for the millionth hour straight.

Second First Impressions

One of the “benefits” of working in the front office of Providence Retirement Villa is I receive feedback on every aspect of my lifestyle and appearance, whether I want it or not.

Klara and the Sun

When we were new, Rosa and I were mid-store, on the magazines table side, and I could see through more than half of the window.

Pride and Premeditation

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a brilliant idea, conceived and executed by a clever young woman, must be claimed by a man.

The Henna Artist

Independence changed everything. Independence changed nothing.

Fat Chance, Charlie Vega

I imagine being kissed about a hundred times a day.

Luster

The first time we have sex, we are both fully clothed, at our desks during working hours , bathed in blue computer light.

The Final Revival of Opal & Nev

My sister, Pearl, and I grew up in Detroit.

Jade City

The two would-be jade thieves sweated in the kitchen of the Twice Lucky restaurant.
