The Books on My Second TBR Cart

I recently shared all of the books on one of my TBR carts, and now it is time for me to talk about all the books on my second one! Before I started blogging, I would have found it overwhelming to have more than ten books on my TBR, and it has not gotten out of hand. I really need to work on actually reading what I own!

The Great Believers has been on my shelves since it came out, and I cannot believe I haven’t read it! I actually have an edition that has been annotated by the author, so I would like to get to that one at some point in 2021.

Jade City has been getting a ton of buzz lately, and it is being adapted into a movie! I am getting more and more into fantasy, so I am excited to read it soon.

The Starless Sea is another one that has been on my shelves since its release! I also have the audiobook. The Night Circus wasn’t my favourite book, but I did really enjoy her writing style, so I am hopeful that this one will work for me.

I bought Daughter of Smoke and Bone at my local used bookstore (cannot wait to get to go there again!) and I really need to prioritize it! I know so many people adore her writing.

I don’t hear a lot of people talking about A Natural History of Dragons, but the premise intrigues me. I love that it is a fiction novel written as though it is nonfiction. So unique!

The Golem and the Jinni is a book that so many people raved about when it first came out. I know that the sequel is being released this year, so now is the perfect time to read it!

Heather O’Neill is one of my favourite Canadian authors, and I attempted to read Lullabies for Little Criminals at the beginning of the pandemic, but it was just too emotional for me at the time. It was incredible though, so I know I will love it when I am ready for it!

A Place For Us is one of those books that I just know will be a five star read for me! I don’t know why it has been sitting on my TBR shelves for so long.

I have yet to read anything by Kate Morton, but I am so intrigued by The Forgotten Garden– I can’t let the size intimidate me!

Have you ever had a book that you thought could be a new all time favourite and you saved it for whatever reason!? That is Pachinko for me!

Monday’s Not Coming is the last of Tiffany D Jackson’s books that I have left to read. I am just not ready to be all caught up with her work!

Beatriz Williams is a historical fiction author I have been wanting to read from for ages! I know so many people adore her books. I definitely want to finally pick up A Hundred Summers this summer while hopefully lying on the beach.

The Bookshop on the Shore is another one I am saving for the summertime. Jenny Colgan has an extensive backlist and I know that many people describe her books as cozy, which is something I need and am hoping to love!

The Poisonwood Bible is one of the books that has been on my shelves the longest! You can’t tell in the photo, but it has completely yellowed. I have tried to read it a few times, but I really think it is one you have to be in the mood for.

I am a terrible Canadian and I have not read The Handmaid’s Tale!!

Followers has such an interesting premise and I have recently discovered that I enjoy any book that touches on social media, so I have a feeling I will enjoy it!

Cilka’s Journey is a book that people in my real life have recommended to me, and I am always curious to see what people outside of the book comunnity are reading. I want to try to prioritize historical fiction this year!

My gut tells me that I am going to love The Ministry of Upmost Happiness, but it also really intimidates me!

My dad actually bought me Everything Happens for a Reason, so I know very little about it. While filming a YouTube video of my TBR cart, I discovered that Glennon Doyle actually blurbed this book, which makes me more excited to read it!

I have been wanting to read more David Sedaris, and Me Talk Pretty One Day is probably the book of his I hear about most often. I will proabbly listen to it on audio!

I adore Fredrik Backman and want to read everything he has written, starting with Britt-Marie Was Here!

Lost in a Good Book is the second book in The Eyre Affair series. I really loved the first book when I read it last year, so can’t wait to continue on with the series.

Can you believe I have not read Rebecca? I love Gothic literature and so many people say it is their favourite classic!

I love the idea of a Beauty and the Beast retelling, but I have yet to find one that actually works for me. I am hopeful that A Curse So Dark and Lonely will be it!

All the Ever Afters is a Cinderella retelling from the perspective of the evil stepmother, and I love the sound of that!

IQ is the first in a detective series that I have heard is sort of a modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes– that is all I need to know!

Amor Towles is another historical fiction author whose books I really want to read. Rules of Civility was definitely a cover buy, but I have heard great things about it!

Jennifer Robson and I went to the same university, so I always buy her books to support her. She is also an incredible historical fiction author and I can’t believe I haven’t read The Gown yet!

So much historical fiction! Once again, I have heard amazing things about all of Kate Quinn’s work, and I think The Alice Network is her most popular book.

The Sea Gate is actually an ARC, so I know very little about it other than that is set during WWII. I need to get to all of these historical fiction novels ASAP!

The Final Revival of Opal and Nev is another ARC and I cannot wait to get to it! It is being compared to Daisy Jones and the Six because it also follows a musical group and is told through a series of interviews.

Well Met and The Bromance Book Club are two books I am attempting to read this month. I have tried them both in the passed and I just wasn’t feeling a connection to the characters, but I figured February was the perfect time to try again- so we will see!
