My Most Anticipated February Releases

There are so many incredible books coming out this year, that I wanted to do something that I haven’t done before and that is monthly new release posts. My “2021 Releases” shelf is over 170 books, which is intimidating since I read around 100 books a year and a lot of that is backlist…

I am going to include links the the Goodreads page for each of these titles if you want to know about them. This post would be way too long if I included every synopsis!

February 2nd

February 2nd is a huge release day!!

Winter’s Orbit is one I know very little about other than the fact that it is a m|m romance set in space and is from Tor! I love so many of Tor’s titles, so I have a good feeling about this one. A perfect book to read in February I think.

I think many of us are excited about The Project! I was blown away by Sadie when I listened to the audio last year, and I will be doing the same for The Project. I am always intrigued by books about cults, so I cannot wait to see what Courtney Summers does with it.

Finlay Donovan is Killing it sounds like it is going to be a fun one. I love the idea of a crime writer being hired as a contract killer- there is so much potential in that premise and early reviews have been great.

I have the audiobook for How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House and from what I can tell from the synopsis, it sounds like it is going to be gut-wrenching.

A History of What Comes Next might be my most anticipated release, though I have been hearing mixed reviews. Sylvain Neuvel wrote my favourite series, so I still have hope I will love this!

My Year Abroad isn’t a book I have heard a lot about but something about the premise really intrigues me. It looks like it is going to be an interesting mix between humour and darker themes, which often works for me in fiction.

I think many of us are anticipating the release of Four Hundred Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619-2019. While Ibram X. Kendi and Kesha N. Blain are the editors, this nonfiction collection has 80 contributors who each focus on a five year span of African American history. I have already preordered the audiobook, which is narrated by a full cast.

We Can Only Save Ourselves is another book about cults, so of course I had to add it to my list. This is Alison Wisdom’s debut and I cannot wait to read it!

February 9th

Now that I am starting to get more and more into YA fantasy, I am so excited for the release of The Gilded Ones. The tagline is what really capture my attention. It is, “Outcasts by Blood, Warriors by Choice”- so good!

Julie Kagawa wrote my favourite vampire series, The Blood of Eden, and I have been meaning to read more from her. The Iron Raven instantly caught my attention as it is A Midsummer’s Night Dream retelling following Puck. How amazing does that sound?

As it is February, I am going to need to read a couple romances, so I am thrilled that A Pho Love Story is finally coming out this month. I feel as though it has been on my list for ages! I love any romance set in a restaurant, so it is definitely a priority for February.

February 16th

First Comes Like is a book I have already ready but I am excited for it to be released into the world. Here is a link to my review if you want to hear more of my thoughts!

Amelia Unabridged is a YA contemporary and is said to be a book about books. I think it is going to heartbreaking yet hopeful. A few of my Goodreads friends have loved this one!

February 23rd

I know very little about The Echo White, but I am intrigued. It is about a clone who has an affair with it’s creator’s husband! I also want to read more from Sarah Gailey. I read River of Teeth a few years ago and it is one I still think about.

Some Other Now has been described as This Is Us for Teens– need I saw more? Have the tissues ready!

I have already read The Initial Insult, and while it is not my favourite books from Mindy McGinnis it is still worth reading– It is Mindy McGinnis after all. It is super dark and I haven’t read anything quite like it!

Honey Girl has been receiving a lot of attention and I have a feeling it is going to be amazing. From what I can tell it is a coming of age novel with a main character in her 20s, which I appreciate.

I have started A Dark and Hollow Star, which is a fae story and is very much out of my comfort zone. I am taking my time with it but I am really loving it more than I had expected to!

  3. Great list! I keep seeing A Dark and Hollow Star everywhere … great cover! But, I don’t know … the blurb makes it sound really, really weird. Looking forward to hear what you think about it!

  4. Hi! It was really nice to catch up with these week’s posts. Seriously 100 books a year! That’s amazing, I hope you break your own record this year. I think I will start my own TBR list with Sadie,Blonde, one from Silvia Moreno, The Dutch House and The Iron Raven.

  5. I too am looking forward to A History of What Comes Next! I haven’t read many reviews about it, I want to go in without any outside thoughts. Fingers crossed we both like it!
