The Last 10 Books Tag

Karen @ Booker Talk shared her answers for the Last 10 Books Tag and I thought it was really interesting, so I had to do it myself!

The Last Book I Gave Up On

I had heard so many things about Well Met and I wanted to love it but just couldn’t get into it. I am not sure if it was the book or if I was just not in the mood for it, so I will try again in the future before passing it along to a friend who I think will enjoy it!

Last Book I Re-read

Emma

I listened to Emma on audio! I am no longer an Audible user, but I had purchased Emma a few years ago and finally got around to it, and I was so glad that I did. It is a full cast, but Emma Thompson is the main narrator, which was so amazing! I forgot just how different Emma was from Jane Austen’s other protagonist, and I kind of loved her. I also watched the newest movie adaptation and thought it was fun!

Last Book I Bought

I am so excited that I finally have a copy of Girl, Woman, Other! I just know that it is going to be fantastic, and I have seen it on so many favourites lists this year.

Last Book I Said I Read But Actually Didn’t

I can’t say that this is something I have ever done! I even pushed through all the assigned reading in high school, even when I hated the books.

Last Book I Wrote in the Margins Of

99170. sy475

I have never written in the margins, but I do write on post-its that I leave in my books. This is a newer habit, but I recently finished this biography about Truman Capote, and it is filled with post-its and tabs. Capote was such a complicated and flawed person- so interesting to read about. The biography was written in the 80s, so I would be curious to see how someone who write about him from a 2021 lens.

Last Book That I Had Signed

Indigo, a bookstore here in Canada, has YA boxes, and I was so thrilled to find that they had one for Raybearer, which came with a signed copy. It is one of my most prized possessions!

The Last Book I Lost

24233708. sy475

I think I know where I left An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, but it is about seven hours away and who knows when I will be able to visit again. I was so surprised by this book and I cannot wait to read the sequel. This is silly, but I really want to have both books together on my shelves.

The Last Book I Had to Replace

831776

My original copy of The Diary of a Young Girl, which I first read when I was twelve, is pretty beat up from having been read over and over again. I still have that book because I have memories attached to it, but I did buy a beautiful edition!

The Last Book I Argued Over

50892287. sy475

I don’t think I have ever had a true argument over a book, but I have had some fun conversations where we have different opinions. Though I did enjoy In a Holidaze, I didn’t like the love interest and I wanted the story to go a different way. I have learned that there are those who agree with me and those who definitely do not! I love that!

The Last Book You Couldn’t Find

4201106. sx318

I am having such a different time tracking down all of the books in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. I have the first three and the fifth but cannot seem to find the fourth one in a matching edition. I am hoping they will be easier to find once I feel comfortable perusing used bookstores again.

  1. I don’t know why one would need to lie about having read a book … UNLESS! I think I did that in school sometimes maybe when I really just skimmed or read summaries and analysis online. Some teachers picked absolute amazing books and others were way too dreadful.

  2. I love Emma by Jane Austen! It might just be my favourite Austen book. The audiobook sounds amazing; Emma Thompson is an incredible woman and I can imagine she would be great at reading the book.
