Christmas Eve Book Tag

Happy Christmas Eve! My favourite day of the year! There is something so magical about the day before Christmas. It is also my dad’s birthday, and he turns 60 today. He is one of my favourite people, so it is always nice to celebrate him on Christmas Eve.

I found this tag on Aoife’s blog (Pretty Purple Polka Dots), and it was too perfect, so I had to do it!

Christmas Eve morning: what is a book you wake up excited to read? One you anticipate reading or one you read in the past that you want to get back into?

This may seem like a completely random answer, but I read The Office recently and it was comfort reading at its finest. The Office is my favourite TV show, so I loved getting all of the behind the scenes information and learning how everyone who worked on the show felt about it. It is one of those books where I am constantly telling everyone facts I learned from it but no one else cares! I finished this 450 page book in less than two days because I picked it up any chance I had.

Christmas Eve breakfast: what are your favourite treats during the holiday season?

My dad’s family is Italian, so pizzelles bring me so much nostalgia. Someone makes them for us every year, and I always look forward to them. They are something I would love to make myself, but they require a special waffle maker!

Family Time: What is a book that fills you with happiness and love, or warm fuzzies in general?

The Midnight Library tackles some darker themes, but it is ultimately a hopeful novel and one I needed in 2020.

Christmas Carols: What are your favorite Christmas Carols or holiday songs?

Why does this song make me think of The OC every time I hear it? I just love it and so does my family. We play it on repeat!

Anticipation: What is a book release you are very much anticipating?

As you probably guessed from all of the “most anticipated” posts I have been sharing lately, there are many books I am looking forward to in 2021. If I had to choose one book as my most anticipated, I would have to go with Klara and the Sun, as Kazuo Ishiguro wrote my favourite novel, Never Me Let Go. It sounds fantastic!

You hear sleigh bells on the roof and are so excited you can’t sleep!: What is a book that kept you up all night?

I am definitely not a night owl, so I rarely stay up late at night, but I distinctly remember not being able to put Dark Matter down. I would go to sleep thinking about it and it would keep me up, so I just kept reading. So thrilling and brilliantly done!

It’s Christmas morning, and Santa has come: What is a book on your wishlist that you hope to unwrap?

I talked more about this in Tuesday’s post, but the one book I would be thrilled to find under the tree is The House in the Cerulean Sea! It was such a beloved book this year and I want to experience it.

  1. I haven’t read it, but I heard The Midnight Library read aloud on the radio and it was lovely. Handled those dark themes with the right amount of cosiness that it just felt… nice. Will definitely try to read it properly!

  2. You just made me even more excited to read Dark Matter! It’s sitting under the tree waiting to be opened! Eeek!

  3. I agree with you, Christmas Eve is very magical! Merry Christmas! 🎄😊 I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family and enjoy yummy pizzelles! It’s been so long since I’ve had homemade ones!
