Books I Have Read With Super Long Titles

I love Top Ten Tuesday because it always has me thinking about topics I had never considered before! Most of the books I read have short titles, which makes sense as they are easier to remember. I often find myself tongue-tied when I am talking about all of the books on this list- the titles are just so long!

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

22733729

One of my favourite books ever, but I always have to think for a second when recalling the title! I always mix up the adjectives. Still a great title though, and an even better book!

The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

36337550

The problem with this title is not only that it is long but that it is so close to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo that is it almost impossible not to mix up the two. I cannot tell you how many times I have called this book The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hugo. That said, this is one of my favourite mysteries and I cannot wait to read the author’s newest book, The Devil and the Dark Water.

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

44074800. sy475

This is a title that I always shorten to simply The Southern Book Club’s Guide whenever I am talking about it, and even that is a mouthful! Great book to read this time of year. I am so thrilled that vampires are back!

Hum If You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais

28264701. sy475

I do not talk about this book nearly enough. It really is beautiful, and, although it is long, it is one of my favourite book titles ever.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

15783514. sy475

This is another intriguing title. Part of the reason I read this book to begin with was because the title caught my attention. I really need to read more from Neil Gaiman!

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Note Dating by Christina Lauren

40189670

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating is not my favourite Christina Lauren novel, but I know that I am in the minority and that it is well-loved. It has the perfect title though! I am actually reading Christina Lauren’s newest release, In a Holidaze, and it is cute so far!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

12000020

It has been years since I have read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. It really is one I should pick up again.

Things My Son Needs to Know About the World by Fredrik Backman

42833687

I was not the target audience for this book, but it would make for a great gift. The title says it all!

Me, Who Dove into the Heart of the World by Sabina Berman

13538344

I really enjoyed this book when I read it many years ago, but I always forget what it is called, which makes it difficult to recommend. It is a really lovely title though.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

2728527

This title is the biggest tongue twister on this list! I really have to think about this one when saying it out loud!

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

15749186

Despite being a long title, I do think To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is easy to remember. It is when talking about the sequels that I get all mixed up!

  1. This is a great list! I’ve been meaning to read many of these books. I, too, confuse The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo with The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, they’re way to similar for my brain to handle. I think the book with the longest title I’ve read is My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman and it was such a lovely read!

  2. The southern Book Club Guide and aristotle seem to be making a lot of lists. they are such good titles. and yes! Long Way To A Small Angry Planet- sooo good!

  3. I love the Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, both the book and the title! I really want to read The Southerns book club guide to Slaying Vampires and The Ocean at the End of the Lane!

  4. Amazing list! The longest book I’ve read is probably only Eleanor oliphant – I like your choices haha, I honestly hadn’t realised how long some of them get 😁 I tried this prompt but I eventually tried ‘ranking the Simons of literature’. Of which I thought there was a lot but turns out there isn’t really lol. I guess it’s also to do with names? It tenuous I know, but check it out if you want to see how Simon cowell ranks against Simon spier! https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2020/10/13/ttt-ranking-fictional-simons-and-real-ones-i-ran-out/

  5. I confused Evelyn Hardcastle and Evelyn Hugo SO much! You are not alone, haha. Really glad to hear Holidaze is good too, excited to read it! Great post 🙂

  6. I tweaked it today but The Guernsey… was the (only) one I would have chosen! Amazing list!

  7. Can I just say I think Backman picks good long titles. He was on my list but for a different book. Also Guernsey was on my list as well for the same reason lol

  8. These are kind of long. I loved each of them. The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Juno Diaz.
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. John Brenda.

  9. I LOVED Josh and Hazels Guide to Not Dating and not just because my name is Hazel lol!
