Read With Angie is hosting a month long readathon with a focus on thrillers and spooky books. She has posted most of the necessary information on her Instagram account. There are a few prompts and a bingo sheet as well as a giveaway.

I am going to share a few options for each prompt and I am going to choose from those. I will also shared a few well recommendations in case you want to join in!

Read a Thriller by a BIPOC Author

Jar of Hearts is a thriller I have been meaning to read since it was released. I have heard that it is gripping and one of those books that you can read in one sitting- that is often what I look for in my thrillers! Jennifer Hillier published another thriller called Little Secrets earlier this year, so I might pick that one up as well!

And Now She’s Gone has been getting a lot of buzz on Instagram lately, and I am definitely intrigued! I have seen a lot of reviewers saying it is not what they expected and hearing that makes me want to read it all the more. I love when thrillers do something different!

Recommendations: When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole, Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson, My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

Read a Book with Red on the Cover

I can pretty much guarantee that I will be reading Monday’s Not Coming for this prompt, as it is the last Tiffany D. Jackson novel I have to read. It also has a very red cover! I honestly no nothing about this book, but Jackson wrote it, so I am reading it. This book would also work for the “Read a Thriller by a BIPOC Author” prompt.

Winter Counts sounds as though is it going to be a slow burn, which is something I love. The reviews I have read for this book have been very thoughtful and it has been obvious how much readers have appreciated this book. I cannot wait to experience it for myself! This book would also work for the “Read a Thriller by a BIPOC Author” prompt.

Recommendations: Final Girls by Riley Sager, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, Sadie by Courtney Summers

Read a Book by a New to You Author

I cannot believe I haven’t read this book yet because I have a feeling I am going to love it! I am so in the book for a creepy and twisty read. I hope I love The Sun Motel and can then read Simone St. James’ other novel, The Broken Girls. This book would also work for the “Read a Ghost Story or a Book About a Haunting” prompt.

Read a Witchy Book

The striking cover for The Year of the Witching is what first caught my eye, but the premise sounds just as amazing. I have a feeling a lot of us will be reading this book this month!

It is shocking to me that I haven’t read A Discovery of Witches yet. It is a book I have had my eye on for years! There is also a TV adaptation that I have heard some great things about, but you know I must read the book first!

Recommendations: Practical Magic series by Alice Hoffman, A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

Read a Book by Your Favourite Thriller Author

The Initial Insult comes out in 2021, but I was lucky enough to get an ALC from Netgalley. I probably should read it closer to release date, but I just adore everything that Mindy McGinnis writes and I cannot wait any longer. I do not know much about it other than that there is a Halloween party at some point and it is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, so I have to read it in October!

Lisa Jewell wrote my favourite mystery, The Family Upstairs, but I have yet to read anything else by her. I have many of her books on my TBR, but I thought I would read her newest release first.

Read a Ghost Story or a Book About a Haunting

Dead Voices is the sequel to Small Spaces, which is a middle grade horror novel that I read a couple years ago. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed the first book, so it is about time I read the sequel! Also, there is a ghost hunter in this story- I love a good ghost hunter!

This cover is a thing of nightmares!!

Recommendations: Home Before Dark by Riley Sager, City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab, The Diviners by Libba Bray
