Last Year I Was Reading…

This is a meme created by Reading Marie, and I am so excited to participate!

It is so easy to join in and here are the rules:

Take your current read and compare it to what you reading this exact time last year. Which one do you like better? What is different about the books? Any special facts/things you want to make note of or bring attention to

I will be finishing Meet Me at Midnight today and it has been a fun reading experience! This is a sweet YA contemporary romance that makes for the perfect summery read. This is a book that I would recommend reading if you find yourself in a reading slump- it is light, entertaining, and adorable. It is not life-changing or particularly memorable, but I am still glad to have read it.

I have read a few of Ruth Ware’s novels now, and The Death of Mrs. Westaway is by far my favourite. There was so much that I didn’t see coming, and there is something about an old, creepy house that just works for me in mystery novels. I am also drawn to books about complicated families, and the Westaway family is the definition of complicated. I know that Ware has a new novel coming out in September called One by One and it is about a group of coworkers who are snowed in at a ski chalet, and I am guessing someone is murdered? I am intrigued by the premise!

Just like last week, these two books could not be more different. One is a YA contemporary romance and the other is an adult mystery/thriller. One is light and fun and the other is dark and tense. I am not one to give star ratings here on the blog, but if I did I would probably give both Meet Me at Midnight and The Death of Mrs. Westaway 3.5 stars. Both were quick reads!
