June Non-bookish Favourites

I have decided to start doing monthly non-bookish favourites. I think it is fun to talk about things other than books on this blog every once in awhile, and I figured this was a great way to do it! I will talk about all of the movies, TV shows, music, food, etc I loved during the month.

Just Mercy

Just Mercy (2019) - IMDb

Just Mercy is one of my favourite memoirs, and I am so happy that I finally had a chance to watch the movie adaptation, which had just as much of an impact as the book did. That said, I still highly recommend the book, as there was a lot of information that was left out of the film. The acting is incredible, and there is something special about Michael B. Jordan- he is beyond talented. I also appreciated that Anthony Ray Hinton was a character in the movie. His memoir, The Sun Does Shine, is one that I think about quite often.

Lenox Hill

Lenox Hill (TV Series 2020) - IMDb

I started Lenox Hill on a whim, knowing very little about it. I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster that this documentary series would take me on. Lenox Hill is a New York hospital, and this series follows four doctors- two in neurosurgeons, one ER doctor, and one OB-GYN. We get a glimpse at the inner workings of the hospital and at what motivates these doctors. It was deeply touching and incredibly devastating. They each form such strong connections with their patients. There is also a bonus episode that shows how the hospital is dealing with the current pandemic, and I highly recommend that everyone at least watches that episode.

Westworld

After finishing Lost, I was looking for another thought-provoking series that I could dive into. A friend recommended Westworld, which is produced by JJ Abrams, who also produced Lost. There is a lot going on in Westworld and it has taken me awhile to get my bearings, but I am loving it. It is such a complex concept, that I don’t even know how to beginning describing all that is going on here. The acting is phenomenal- I mean, Anthony Hopkins is in it, so that is all you really need to know!

REPLICA Beach Walk Perfume

Classic - Cashmere Rollerball - CLEAN RESERVE | Sephora

I adore all of the scents in this line, but I find myself drawn to Beach Walk at the moment. It is truly the perfect summer scent. It smells exactly like being at the beach, which I know sounds ridiculous. You have to smell it to truly understand what I mean. It also lasts forever on the skin, which is always nice.

Ole Hendricks Banana Bright Eye Creme

Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme 15 ml

I have never been big into eye cream because I always thought it was a little gimmicky, but this eye cream has been a game changer. I honestly notice a difference and I feel as though my under eyes are brighter and that concealer goes on more smoothly. I highly recommend this product!

Have you watched, listened to, or tried any of my favourites? What was your favourite non-bookish thing this month?

  1. Oh my! I love Westworld. I look forward to reading the book by Michael Crichton but I can definitely say that it is a mindblowing show, especially the heights to which the creators have taken it too. The recent season having those explanations at the end of each episode, I mean wow. And that theme music by Ramin Djawadi has my heart.

  2. I’m going to have to give Lenox Hill a watch. And I’m totally going to try that eye cream!!
